Meg's #7 showcar glaze topped with sealant..??

That could very well be the case, although I am no expert on the chemistry behind these products, its widely accepted that something from the same brand would work hand in hand with #7. For example applying M26 ontop of #7 is a widely practised application. I couldn't tell you if any of the Megs...

15 Big Ones from Advance Auto

I agree. I used to work at an auto parts store chain. Its their job to do simple tasks like holding products. However what the most likely scenario was that their quantity on the computer was wrong compared to the actual quantity on hand. AA did him good, other stores wouldnt do the same.

question about gold plush and super plush towels

Sometimes "soft" isnt the greatest for removing polish/wax/sealants. The purple ones are best suited for QD/Wax removal, or even rinseless washes. However you can user them for whatever youd like. Soft towels are very subjective, because I can find you super soft towels at a local retailer, that...

Meg's #7 showcar glaze topped with sealant..??

Meguiars #7 was designed specifically for single stage paints. With that said, its best suited for single stage paints. The product is very old. You can use it with clear coat paint systems, but there are far better glaze products available on the market. CG EZ Creme Glaze & WG 2.0 just to name...

    Different types of clay

Using a clay towel is just easier than using clay, you can drop it and just rinse it off without having to worry about ruining it like a clay bar. I prefer clay bar myself, in some aspects Im a little old school. However the latest decontaminant products like speedy prep towels or Iron X are...

question about gold plush and super plush towels

I dont care much for GSM's when it comes to Cobra towels, because all their towels are top notch & work very well. I use the golds for wax/sealant removal, and their thicker purple deluxe ones for QD/Spray Wax. Cant go wrong with any Cobra, dont worry.

    Rupes LHR 15ES vs GG6

LoL, sorry OP. Some people get their feelings hurt when their expensive machine is critizised. At the end of the day, a true detailer can achieve the same results constantly regardless of what machine he uses. Granted you can correct a bit faster with a Flex or a Rupes. I find it laughable that...

bored, went through a touchless wash today

Touchless car washes often use harsh chemicals to wash your car. They have the potential to damage and dry out your rubber seals. Once in a while shouldnt hurt though.

    Which Brand 3" Backing Plate?

I agree. When I use LC plates, the velcro really grabs on my Megs pads like theres no tomorrow, I have to literally peel them off. On the other hand my Meguiar's BP's make it so easy to remove my Meguiars pads. Not really a huge advantage, but it does make it easy for me to swap pads literally...

Are 4" pads necessary or just nice to have?

B&S, LC, Meguiars. Its all preferance. Im not going to rip on a particular brand, but the above pics are Meguiar's 4" pads. Yellow is a polish pad, black is for wax/sealant. They also have a maroon/burgundy pad for cutting. That BP is from LC. Everyone has their pad preferance, but I can tell...

Are 4" pads necessary or just nice to have?

It makes detailing around smaller panels easier, especially if you have a 4" pad with a nice bevel edge on it. It also makes using paste wax a breaze. Just make sure you get the right BP for the respective pad your going to use.

how many of you are using microfiber pads as a one step?

Right, I use M101 with an MF pad often as a 1 step, LSP ready finish. Will this be the case on every soft paint out there? Of course not. Soft paint is relative, and every paint system will vary from car to car regardless of make and model. Just like other experienced members have stated, MF...

how many of you are using microfiber pads as a one step?

You obviously dont have much experience with MF pads. You can use them on soft paint with the right product & technique. Sure foam pads are great, I use them as well. However everyone knows you cant compare the correcting ability of an MF pad, especially MF pads from Meguiars. How well the...
