    Scratches

From the pics those scratches don't look like they went down to the primer. Can you put a finger nail into any of them? When using the PC to attempt to remove the swirls/cobweb scratches were you applying about 15lbs of pressure? And how fast were you moving the polisher over the area? What...

    Hit and Run - Fantastic!

That is(should be) standard protocol anytime a police report is involved and or the insurance Co. sees that it is a no fault situation. I put my bike down coming off the interstate and the insurance Co. saw it as a no fault accident because I explained to them the conditions and how the off ramp...

Another carpet extractor question lol may be my last haha

Unless you are tackling jobs with a lot of spilt drinks or mud, you can get by with a really good shop-vac like a Craftsman, a couple spray bottles, a stiff bristled brush, a bunch of terry cloth towels and microfibers, and maybe even a handheld/portable steamer. That setup can be had for less...

    Which one is better?

The STI had bearing going and the Turbo was overheating the oil causing it to evaporate off. Within 3k miles it consumed over 5qts of oil. I can complain because I went through two clutches in that car due to how hard I drove it. With AWD burnouts something has to give. Was fun times until it...

    Hit and Run - Fantastic!

In my experience shops doing insurance work have higher estimates and they still have you paying your deductible. It can obviously go both ways but, IME I've seen dealerships and bodyshops give inflated estimates and the insurance company doesn't know much better and may be doing buddy deals...

Can i use a nanoskin sponge like this?

If the kit comes with Nanoskin's Glide I would opt for something else like Detailer's universal clay lube or Ultimate WW+ concentrate which will have many more uses and you fine tune he ratio to make the lube you like best.

Can i use a nanoskin sponge like this?

If your not doing this to make money then stick to fine grade and a designated clay lubricant or WW/RW concentrate. It's easier to work panel by panel with a clay lube instead of car shampoo. Plus you can better see if contamination is being removed when you don't have soap suds all over the paint.

    Scratches

You would probably get better results applying PB black hole glaze after buffing the scratches. Then follow up with a dark wax. Touch up is obviously an option depending on how wide the scratches are. If you have the time and patience then try your hand at it. You can always wetsand, buff...

    Hit and Run - Fantastic!

The amount your premium could go up is no where near what you'll spend out of pocket. And that quote seems about twice as much as what it should coat. But hard to tell what it will really need from the pic. Looks like something I could live with after the sanding and buffing you did. But hey...

    Restoring Mini Cooper R90 wheels

Have you sanded aluminum before starting with 400? That seems more aggressive than may be necessary. A test spot is definitely in order before sanding a whole lip.

    Which one is better?

To testify to the durability of an STI motor, I drove mine about 800 miles with only about 2 quarts of oil in it. Seized the motor and warranty covered it. When any motor is Turbo charged you can trash it in less than 100k miles if you don't keep an eye on the oil more often than I did...

    extension cord is a bit...stiff

Was proud to serve.:) Thanks for the respect. That's one way to put it Bill.LOL Crazy the little things we would get beat over the head about, but it's the little things that can have a huge impact. Made me the detailer I am today:) Stretch it out and starting in the middle and coiling up the...

Paint restoration on a 2014 Porsche

Great job! Was that damage from the factory and or the dealership? What a shame that that caliber of car was looking that way new. Way to make it look better than new.:)

    Restoring Mini Cooper R90 wheels

Have you taken the center/spokes off yet? You can get some aircraft stripper(think that's the name) that is safe on aluminum and strip the clear off instead of sanding the lip.

    extension cord is a bit...stiff

Yeah, the only cord I have that I purchased is a 25' with three receptacles. The ones I have longer than that were freebies.:)

    extension cord is a bit...stiff

This is the stuff that Aircrew "kids" are taught in the Navy.LOL It was serious thing for our job, because if you couldn't maintain a 100ft cord that allowed you to communicate with the flight crew, then you were a hazard. Imagine having a couple 100ft cords tangled up in your way in a...

    extension cord is a bit...stiff

Coiling cords was like my job in the Navy. I was an Aircrewman on MH-53Es and we had 100 ft. communication cords(aka "long cords") that were way more delicate than extention cords. I could wind one up with no kinks or figure eights in about 20-30 seconds. If someone ever wrapped one around their...

    Which one is better?

What is your goal with the cad? Autocross, track, strip, show, garage queen, daily driver, etc.? Before even walking into a dealership, let alone a carmax, do all your research on the vehicles your are looking for. That said, I would look at a purchasing from a private seller, and definitely not...

Trying to start a mobile detail business need opinions

Dude! You can't fall down without landing on a golf course where you live.lol You could probably get away with just doing waterless/rinseless washes at the golf courses, and schedule further needed detailing at their residence if possible. Once you figure out the regulations, like water usage...

Trying to start a mobile detail business need opinions

So what demographic of customers are you aiming for? What's the population of the metropolitan area you live in/near? I would find out the numbers that the car washes are doing and how many clients the other detailers in the area have. How do plan on marketing yourself? Are there country clubs...
