    Spraying Opti-coat?!!!

I spray OC Pro for the majority of my jobs. It does use more product (approx 15-20cc depending upon the size of the car) but saves a ton of time. I started with air brushing it and had very good success with that. I just recently switched over to an mini-HVLP gun with a .06mm tip. Which i'm...

    Boat Detailing Products

For heavy oxidation I use 3M Super Duty compound. That stuff is heavy heavy cut. Works great for severe oxidation removal. I've never used the marine 31 products so I can't attest to those but 3M products work pretty well for marine.

Opti Coat 2.0 - Most of my customers see no difference between coated and uncoated

I'm going to say you need to upgrade the lighting in your garage. Something as simple as adding some fluorescent fixtures with 6500k bulbs will brighten it up a ton. Having quality lighting not only shows you more defects but really makes the car shine when it's properly polished and coated...

    Optimum hyper spray polish

It's a chemical resistant sprayer I buy in bulk. Similar to the ones on another detailing supply site. PM me if you want the link. It's a more sturdy sprayer. the ones that come with the hyper polish I never liked they always break or clog on me.

    Optimum hyper spray polish

I love hyper polish. Have been using it as one of my go to polishes for about a year now. The spray trigger that comes with the bottle is junk. I got rid of it and use a replacement trigger and I have yet to have issues with clogging. It's much easier to spray it on to a pad. Saves a little...

    Questions for you mobile guys...

When I was mobile (have a shop now). 1: Pop up tent with sides if possible to help with low sun depending upon the time of day. A tarp works in a pinch for a side wall and some good clamps. 2: Depending upon your level of skill, tools used, type of paint, etc will vary the time of a 1 step...

    Glaze before Coating?

Yes total cure time. At least that's what I think your getting at here. So for example Opti-coat pro is chemical resistant after 24 hrs but the total curing time (or hardening) is 30 days. So, I would wait for the 30 days to be up before "glazing" it. As there is going to be some friction and...

    Glaze before Coating?

Only after proper curing has occurred. Which varies depending upon the coating.

    Rent for your shop

Todd I was not trying to cause a fight and I'm sorry you took offense to my post. I would have no way of knowing your town and home owners assoc approved you operating unless I was to make some calls which would just be ridiculous on my part. And I know there are a lot of Detailer's who work...

    Rent for your shop

You just need to be careful with this. I started in my home garage without issues. I eventually sold my house and moved into an apartment, so was using my mother's 2 car garage to detail out of while I was looking for a shop (about 5-6 months). I eventually had the town called on me as one of...

    Glaze before Coating?

The spray method takes practice though and if your not skilled with spraying you can waste a lot of product. It took me some time to get the spray method down. For your own personal vehicle if your planning to do the install I'd use the wipe method. As it's much easier and you won't waste product.

    Coatings on Carbon Fiber Pieces

Opti-coat will slightly darken (very minimal) matte finishes however will add no sheen and still leave a matte finish. If it's clear coated then there shouldn't be any issues with any coating.

    Glaze before Coating?

Definitely no glaze before Opti-Coat as others have stated. Also, if you use Optimum polishes you do not need to use an IPA wipe down before application. I recommend doing an ONR wash prior to application as it helps ensure a nice smooth application surface. You can apply directly after...

Response I got from a detailer

The "Flaking" comment definitely is cause for concern. Opti-coat will not flake off or wear off if properly installed. And Cquartz will eventually wear off (years down the road). Both products are high quality products and as many can attest to work amazing. You made the right choice by going...

    Rent for your shop

I'm in Billerica, MA. My shop is 54x24 almost 1300sq ft about 1100 workable space. I have a mezzanine upstairs for an office and extra storage. I also use under the mezzanine for all my shelving and product storage. I pay $1050/month. And for my area that's fairly cheap for that much...
