Opti Coat 2.0 - Most of my customers see no difference between coated and uncoated

I really feel for you man. I would be really sad if I heard that.
Do your cars look anything like these? I would think that they do - these are all brand new. Each owner was stunned. (Off topic) Not sure who these clients are, but for one, if I understand you, they were touching the finish? Lesson 1! DO NOT touch the paint. As in, NEVER. There is no reason for the skin to touch the paint. Only MF towel, wash mitt, drying towel should have contact with the paint. It is one of those really bad habbits - touching the paint. The skin is too oily. Why leave oily residue on a freshly coated finish? Teach these people all the DOs and DON NOTs.

I hope things change for you. BTW, what products do you use?

There is something wrong here. Feed back please

I agree. Your LSP/coating shouldn't make or break the detail. If everything else is done right, any quality product should make the car look pretty stunning.

I applied it with the Optimum Dual Sided Applicator. I figured since it was designed by the company, it would probably be best.

Optimum Opti Dual Pro Applicator

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate! :dblthumb2:

Wow! The paint looked very stunning!
For new cars i usually used Optimum Hyper Polish/Menzerna SF4000 on CCS Black pad for polishing.
Please let me know if i can improve this polishing step. :)

Do you reuse the Optimum Opti Dual Pro Applicator? If yes, how do you wash it?
I used this applicator before, it worked way better than the original yellow applicator.
But they all have the common issue - the coating will dry on it and cannot be used for the next application.
It could be because i allowed the applicator to sit there for a long time before washing. :)

I'm going to say you need to upgrade the lighting in your garage. Something as simple as adding some fluorescent fixtures with 6500k bulbs will brighten it up a ton. Having quality lighting not only shows you more defects but really makes the car shine when it's properly polished and coated.

My customers are never anything but stunned by how well the car looks when they pick it up. But my shop is very well lit and shows the true condition of the paint. If your working with regular bulbs in the garage your making your life more difficult by not being able to see for one (even with halogens, they only show so much).

And OC Pro adds a slight difference in the appearance. I wouldn't say it's drastic which is why it's so important to do a final finishing polish prior to coating. It adds gloss and then you lock that in.

The slickness can be easily fixed with the Pro version. After an hour cure time you can use some optimum spray wax and it will add that slick feeling. Not sure if you can do that with 2.0...pretty sure you have to wait for it to cure for 12 hours first or something like that. I haven't used 2.0 in years.
