    CarPro DLUX recoating question

Additional info since I can't figure out how to edit the original post-- looked at the top with a magnifying glass and found that the difference in gloss level is apparently due to the fact that not all of the recessed areas of the grained finish actually got coated. I guess the first...

    CarPro DLUX recoating question

I coated my wrinkle finish black fiberglass targa top in DLUX. The first coat looked fantastic but it's been my practice to apply two coats of DLUX to black plastic parts. My memory is terrible but in retrospect I think I usually wait at least 24 hours before the second coat. This time did the...

Sharkpolitur Escort Service detailing/restoring original Single Stage Paint on MCMLXXXII Red Corvette

Israel is blessed with many beautiful women. The car owner is one of them. Nice job on the car. Looked like a junkyard dog when you started. Incredible results.

Anyone use spray wax on their windows

Ditto. I use Optimum on one of my cars after every wash. Way too much trouble to worry about getting it on the glass so I just do it all. Haven't noticed any problems. Probably not the ideal thing to use on glass, but it makes the process lots easier.

Reviews on best rtu wheel cleaner?

I've used Griot's for years and love it enough to buy it by the gallon. Their heavy duty stuff is that much better for really tough cases. Guess I need to branch out and try the highly regarded Sonax cleaner one day, but Griot's has served me well on my European cars (which typically dirty...

    Dr. Colorchip or Langka?

No, not during my ownership. But I agree with you that whoever did it should be strung up by their toes. It's taken some time, but the car actually looks very good now, with the exception of the places where the paint was scratched. Fortunately, the paint is pretty thick and it's single stage...

    3" Plate on GG 6"?

I use a 3" backing plate and pads frequently on my Griot's 6". Works great but I've yet to find any 3" pads that hold up nearly as well as the Uber 5" pads I typically use. So I just reglue the backing material to Lake Country pads once the original glue inevitably fails, and the pads hold up...

    Dr. Colorchip or Langka?

From what I can tell, the car was buffed with an old style cotton bonnet with an exposed arbor, and it was the arbor that did the damage. Perhaps that is not called a pigtail in the detailing world, but that's what it looks like to me. In any case, I've found plenty of evidence that at some...

    Son1c Wax Phoenix Review

I like your thorough prep process, which no doubt really pays off in the final result. What did you use to clean the surface before applying the Phoenix? And did you apply one or two coats of Phoenix? Nice job. It'd be great if you would report back as to how long this wax lasts when the...

    Dr. Colorchip or Langka?

Thanks for the link, PoorOwner. Just placed an order. Langka does not show anything for the single stage paint on my Ferrari and the Scratch Wizard kit is only $37 shipped (they don't even gouge you on shipping!), so it's cheaper than Dr. Colorchip. Considering I'm trying to repair fairly...

    Best drying towel?

I use a $35 leaf blower. I don't like to spend money, but also don't like to use any sort of towels to dry my cars.

    Dr. Colorchip or Langka?

I'm hoping you get some good responses because I'm wondering the same. I'd like to fill some deep chips in single stage black paint and am wondering if there's a system for that purpose. I don't know if factory touch-up paint is even available in my case, though it presumably is for your STI.

    partial respray and car's value

Take detailed pics before and during the respray so you can document what was done and why it was done. In your case, it might well actually add value, as long as you can prove that there was no major damage.

    Question about wash and wax

No. I dry the car with a leaf blower and then mist on the Optimum Wax after it's 95%+ dry. Then wipe down with long-nap microfiber towels.

    Question about wash and wax

+1. Only I apply the Optimum Spray Wax after every wash. It's so easy to do I figure why not get extra protection.

    Newbie help with product selection

Conventional wisdom says to apply the sealant first, so it can bond to the paint and provide longer term protection. Then top with the wax, to enhance depth. If you're looking for durability I'd suggest two coats of each, waiting *at least* the specified amount of time between each coat (I...
