What rouge and wheels are you using? Cleaning your wheels between passes? Soft aluminum is a pain since it holds rouge. Fill a old sock up with baking soda and lightly rub after each compounding step. Always rub in one direction only. I wouldn't wax it since the wax can gather in micro pits...

I use a Mytee HP100 extractor but that blows your budget. The steamer works well on most stains so you can use it for now and save up for a extractor. GG6" is great for starting out and can do other tasks (carpet brush) if you ever decide to upgrade.
