Wow Mike that's a great answer! I'll go with the wool then. The fact is that I'm not a Pro so I was thinking about foam backed wool pads... I guess the fact that they're softer should forgive a lot of mistakes! But do they cut with the same power? An example is the meguiars W4003

Tuff buff pad is actually a long fiber wool pad. Still can't understand why it gives good results on a DA PS. This great post shows also the surbuf pad on a DA. But can you tellme what would be the result with surbuf + rotary?

You're right. That's why I'm not mentioning heavy foam pads anymore... I guess they should be considered only for DA Now I'm only considering these 4 heavy cut pads: 1. wool pads for rotary 2. thin wool pads for DA 3. microfiber for DA 4. surbuf for DA (and for rotary?) What's your experience?
