CQuartz Dlux Trim and Wheel Coating - 3 months later

I just wanted to note how incredible this stuff is. I coated all the black plastic on my GMC Sierra 3 months ago, and this stuff still looks like it did from day one. Water beads up just as if it were waxed and does not spot. Anyone else love this stuff? Sent from my iPhone using...

Why I call the FLEX 3401 the BEAST! by Mike Phillips

How does the BEAST handle heat generation when doing such large/long sections? I know if I did the same section with my GG6 DA, it would likely lead to pad/plate melting failure. (which I've done before) Or is the key to use a LOT of product to keep friction at a minimum?

    Should I upgrade to a Flex 3401?

The video on Tuesday is what actually sparked me to write this thread. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I think I will be making the upgrade soon. :)

    Should I upgrade to a Flex 3401?

Hi All, I’ve been using my GG6 for many years now, on my own vehicles, relatives, and occasionally to make a couple bucks. I’m not doing this as a business. With that said, I’ve been more apprehensive (or lazy) lately because I feel like the GG6 just takes so long to do a car. I’ve stuck with...

    Alternative "clay" products

I tried the cobra clay mitt on a neglected Sierra. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed. Used it on glass first to condition it, and attempted decontaminating the hood. A follow up with clay showed too much left behind for me to comfortably use it again. I may try it for light work. Maybe the...

    Side Gig Taxes

Just curious as to what people do for claiming taxes if they're operating a small side detailing business. Are you filing a schedule C as a business and claiming your expenses? Interested in what's needed when you head down the road of business cards and advertising vs polishing a buddy's car...

Car Wash Claims Brushes "Can't scratch your vehicle"

Funny you mention that. He claimed his boss (the owner) has a dark blue truck that he runs through once a week with no issues. Really illustrates their detailing credibility... or overall IQ.

Car Wash Claims Brushes "Can't scratch your vehicle"

Entertaining story I thought I'd share. I used to use a nearby car wash with my old truck that had a drive through brush system (shame on me). Fast forward to my new purchase, a flat black GMC Sierra, I returned to this place and unfortunately let the drive through wash scratch the heck out of...

    Headlight Restoration Side Job Advice?

Hey all, thinking about doing mobile headlight restorations as a side hustle. Just looking for a few pointers. Tools/process: GG6 w/ 3" backing plate 3" sanding discs (800, 1200, 2000, 3000 grits) Orange foam pad w/ M105 compound Optilens coating I've restored my own headlights in the past...

Rinse or wipe down engine bay?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll likely go with the spray bottle and wipedown route. I've only got 15k miles on her so it's not that bad.

Rinse or wipe down engine bay?

Do you guys rinse your engine bays or do a wipe down detail? I recently used the under carriage wash wand at the car wash and it seemed to splatter a lot of dirt up into the engine bay of my truck. I've always been hesitant to use the hose under the hood, though I know plenty of folks that do...

Products for machine polishing Mercedes C250

I corrected a black 2010 C300 a long time ago with the Meguiars Ultimate line with good results. Ultimate Compound with Megs flat foam cutting disc, Ultimate Polish with the Megs foam polishing disc, and topped with Ultimate Liquid Wax on a black foam finishing pad.

    Clay vs nanoskin...

+1 to this. My only experience is with the cobra clay mitt, but on a heavily contaminated truck, the mitt only removed about 50%. I ended up switching to clay for the whole thing. The clay mitt/towel/sponges may be more suitable for lightly contaminated vehicles; haven't been in that...

    Door jamb grease

Won't be doing a lot of degreasing, just enough to get the thin film off around the jambs. I've always had good luck with fluid film as a lubricant.

    More headlight restorations

    Door jamb grease

Weird question, but I bought my truck new earlier this year and there seems to be some sort of grease all over the door jambs. I assume it's from the factory, maybe the hinges, and just gets smeared when I wipe down the jambs. Anyone got a good recommendation for cleaning this stuff off...

    Resisting Water Spots

I figured it's just nature of the beast. Not as worried about spots from washing as I dry it off after, more about the outside elements. bhonshell42 is right, Im sure the only prevention is to dry the vehicle after it rains. Just was wondering if certain LSP/waxes have noticeably better...

    Resisting Water Spots

I've got a 2015 Black GMC Sierra. I'm curious if there's any good products to resist water spot deposits. After washing and drying the vehicle, tiny outlines of water spots are visible about 1mm in diameter that creates a hazed look in the paint. I did the whole truck with Ultimate Polish and...

    2011 Sierra 2500HD

Yikes! I don't know why, I had Silverado on my mind. Perhaps a moderator can edit it... Gas job, unfortunately.
