    Expecting too much from coating?

Have you tried an iron remover? I have close to 1 year old CanCoat on my Tacoma that had began to look weak on the hood. I washed it, sprayed Gtechnique iron remover, agitated, let dwell a couple of minutes, and sprayed off. That restored the beading to almost good as new.

    Tesla Model Y

I always look forward to your posts. Awesome quality work! It seems that I can never 100% nail the correction. There’s always something, taillights, plastic bumpers or something else that I can’t get where I want. That’s why you are a pro and I’m an old retired guy doing a hobby/semi-part time job!

Sorry for the jacked up post. Not sure what happened when adding pics.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

“It doesn’t need much, it’s been painted” says the owner. When am I going to learn? Took a while but turned out nice. I love the color.

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

A friend asked if I could get the sanding scratches and rotary marks out of his recently painted project truck. I did a two step correction with Meguiars 105/microfiber pads and Sonax Perfect Finish with black foam pads. I only took a couple of before photos...I’m always anxious to get started...

gyeon primer vs car pro essence

If Eraser is needed after Essence, are there any advantages to using Essence instead of any other polish? I haven’t used it but thought it might cut some polishing time for daily drivers that are getting coated. Based on info in previous posts, longer work time = more correction and less fill so...

    BLACKFIRE AIO

Thanks and I agree! Since the original post my selection of chemicals has multiplied considerably. I still like Blackfire AIO topped with Collinite for one steps. I haven’t found anything that wipes off as easily. I recently followed Meguiars 105 with BF AIO to remove haze without causing...

Help with Black 2016 Jeep Wrangler

You might consider Gyeon CanCoat. Looks good and should last 12+ months easily on a garaged vehicle. I have been using Cerakote wipes on textured plastic. Don’t think AG carries them. Doesn’t do well on smooth plastic.

    Advice for Soft Black Paint

Thanks for the advice! People who take the time to share their experience are what makes this forum valuable. I never considered using damp towels for wipe off but that makes sense. Sounds like I have a black Forerunner coming next week so may be round two.

    Advice for Soft Black Paint

Thanks for the tip on the red pads! I will pick a few up. I am guilty of using pads too long..

    Advice for Soft Black Paint

I was using 4 or 5 drops of polish and starting adding a light spray of diluted ONR. I don’t have an air compressor to I try to clean the pads by wiping with a MF towel between panels and use the pads for two panels generally but sometimes go too long. I have 3” and 6” older GG polishers. On...

    Advice for Soft Black Paint

I do have both white Lake Country pads but didn’t try them. I did try a blue pad. It really seems like the wipe off is the problem. I did a black Infiniti last year that was about the same. Very frustrating! Thanks for the tip.

    Advice for Soft Black Paint

Most of my towels are Cobra polishing cloths. Not sure of the gsm. I also have several plush one sided MF towels that seemed to cause marring. I will look into Perfect finish and Dr. Beasley’s. Thanks for relies!

    Advice for Soft Black Paint

Disclaimer: not a professional. I have been prepping a friend’s 6 week old Black Camry for CQ 3.0 UK and having trouble getting the finish I want. It has only been washed by the dealership with what appears to have been the shop broom. Lots of straight line scratches. Correction went ok using GG...

    Interior Detailing Question

Thanks for the replies! I found a long flexible crevice tool that should work on my shop vac.

    Interior Detailing Question

It’s really frustrating when I can’t reach places between the seat and console with my vacuum. I detail for family and friends only so I’m just using a small shop vac with a crevice tool. How do you guys handle this? Is air the best option? If so, what size compressor is needed to have adequate...

    Flex “Pixie”

Thank you sir! I had assumed that neither DA drive would give sufficient pad rotation but after seeing the larger mass of the 12 mm it makes sense that it would. I used it successfully today on a Tacoma.

    Flex “Pixie”

I have had a chance to use the 1” backing plate and rotary drive. I’m getting rotary marks on A and B pillars with orange foam pads and Blackfire One Step. What advice do you have to prevent this? This is my first experience with a rotary tool so I’m sure my technique is lacking. Thanks!

    Flex “Pixie”

I tried a white foam pad with the rotary and it works well. I was hoping the 3 mm orbital would give some level of correction if needed but just not enough power. This is my first cordless tool and it’s nice to cut the cord...at least part of the time. Thanks again for the info.

    Flex “Pixie”

Thanks for the advice! I will switch to rotary and give it a try.
