Well, since my mother now lives with me her car has been staring me in the face every day to get the PC out and give it a polish. So, this weekend since it was pretty warm here in MA I decided to attack it.

I started by rinsing it down with the pressure washer to get as much road grime and salt off as I could. Since it was so warm out and the car was really dirty I decided to give it a foam bath with DP Xtreme Foam and Dawn. I used the two bucket method with Pinnacle XMT Shampoo and Conditioner for soap and a sheep skin mitt.

Couple of shots before a rinse...

After the wash it was dried with a small electric leaf blower. And I could see the real damage. The car has been clayed twice this year and was just recently done back in Oct, so it wasn't bad. A couple areas on the side skirts needed some claying.

Some shots of work I had ahead of me.

I taped up the car and got to work on my test spot. The paint was a lot harder than I was expecting. I ended up settling on M105 on yellow CCS flat pad, followed by M205 on a white CCS flat pad. After I completed the hood I had ran out of M105 and ended up running to Pep Boys and had to get Megs UC. All with the PC7424.

On to the 50/50's...

After the polishing was completed I gave it an IPA wipe down and proceeded with a coat of Pinnacle XMT 180 High Gloss wax. After it sat over night I applied a coat of Dodo Juice Supernatural. All via the PC and CCS flat red pad.

Tires were dressed with WG black diamond tire gel.

Windows cleaned with Stoners Invisible glass and waffle weave MFs.

Trim restored with Poorboys Trim Restorer.

And here are the afters

Great turn around . I know that put a smile on mom's face.

How long did that all take?

I started on it Saturday with the wash during the day then pulled it into the garage. Took a break to go out to eat with my mom at the local pizza joint (they have a sweet bar). Came home and got to work. I worked about 5 hours on Saturday between the wash and starting the polishing. Then Sunday from 10am-7:30 and finished it up this morning, started around 9am and finished at noon. So all together 17 and half hours. It was in really rough shape and some sections I had to go over a couple times to get it as perfect as I could. Overall probably about an 85-90% correction.

Thanks for the comments!

And my mom hasn't even seen it yet. She just got home from work and it's dark out. So, hopefully we get some sun tomorrow and she can at least see it. Of course I heard we might get some snow tomorrow.

She will be very happy to see it tomorrow. :props:

I'm going work on my friend car tomorrow for pratically free. I hope I can get it finish before it gets dark. I start around 12 and it gets dark around 5 here, I hope I have enough time to polish whole car.

Good job, and remember if Mama is happy everyone is happy... Good job...

Oh mama is happy. Since she took my truck to work yesterday, she filled the tank ($80), so I got a free tank of gas out of it. I was willing to do it for free though just to get the experience of working on a different paint.

wow guy. nice work. I'm getting my flex in this week. will be polishing every car in sight to get a little practice in before I incorporate it into my details.

Thanks. I pre-ordered the new flex rotory. So, come spring time I'll be trying to get as much practice as I can with that. I actually think I may end up going to the junk yard and picking up a hood I can practice my wetsanding and polishing with the rotory on.
