This corvette started life out as a GM SHOW CAR.

The original window sticker was not billed out to a dealer, but rather to GM.

The owner investigated and found that there is a build or production code that would tell her whether this was true.

Inside the glove box, there's a plate with all of the car's codes. ZR6 Code (Zone Show Vehicle) is included.

So, her Vette started out life as a show car for GM

The '05 ZR6 cars had color keyed third light eyebrow and door handles, and also have aluminum Corvette sill plates.

It was maxed out with every available option.

The Wash
The vette had some light dust on it. So I went with a DP 4-in-1 wash. After that it was clayed, and brought back the shine.

Wheels & Tires
I used the DP 4-in-1 wash with the '16 deep reach wheel brush and a reg wheel brush. Toweled dry, applied Surf City's Black Tire Pro to the tires. And Optimum Opti-Seal to the rims.

Interior
It had tan interior, DP Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner on the carpets. This stuff works real well. Woolite/water mix on all other interior. Leather conditioned with Danase Leather Rx. Dash/ door/console received DP Interior Surface Protectant.

The Gameplan The reason I was called for this detail

She had a big bird bomb etching on the hood. And also it was covered in deep water etching too. So I went with 3M extra cut/ and OP. The OP keeps it from hazing. With the DeWalt and wool pad. After that was all done, went with the UDM and a white CCS pad. OP/106ff on same pad, two dabs of each. Wiped off with a Cobra Deluxe Jr. Finished with Z5pro, and Z-CS after.
The bird etching went bye bye. And the water etching was knocked out by 85%. Only from certain angle's could you see the water etching that remained.

Did you go with the washless just because there was no dirt to speak of?

Looks great - what's your take on these fairly minor corrections?

That's a very nice car and very nice detail. Strange thing about the GM thing, I thought the cars that the companies show just get crushed when they are done with them, maybe that's just when they mod them out for SEMA, etc?

Zaino sure does look good on that color, I've seen a few with this combo and the results are outstanding.

Ed!!!! show some shots of interior work you do!!! love the car, great job.... also need some befores of the corrections you do!!!

Beautiful job, Ed. :awesome: Will the OS on the rims hold up? Been using AW weekly and the dirt and brake dust seems to come off easy.

I bet your back hurts from doing all those vettes :)

Wow nice job on the Vette. I have never seen an orange one in person. It looks good :)

Sweet detail Ed. You made that orange pop. Does everyone in Atlanta drive a Corvette?? j/k:)

Yes, the vette only had a few days of driving dirt on it. And the corrections were not minor. Any time I have to use the DeWalt and 3M extra cut it is more then minor.

Just for you D2G I will take a few interiors, and sometimes I forget to take some before shots. Will try and take some more.

It seems to hold up, and doesn't turn my rims black like before. Makes taking the grime off easier

Ever since I put the walk fit orthotic Insoles, in my shoes. My ankle and back feel great. I am getting old you know:D
