Background
This car is babied. Garage kept, interior was spotless and it’s only washed by touchless wash at a local higher-end car wash. The paint had very few scratches and swirls were minimal.
The Plan
I wanted to use XMT180 wax again so I thought I’d keep it all in the family on this one and use XMT360, XMT Glaze then follow it up with XMT180 wax. I wasn’t planning to use the glaze but I had been reading posts asking if it was okay to use XMT Glaze over XMT360, here was my opportunity to see for myself.
The Detail
Washed with Pinnacle Shampoo via foam gun, 2 bucket/Ultimate Guzzler
Tires and rims - DP Gel Wheel Cleaner with Black ShMitt
Wheel Wells got AA Foam
Engine - DP Engine Degreaser
Interior – Vacuum, DP Surface Protectant, Diamondite Plasti-Care on gauges, Pinnacle Leather Cleaner and Conditioner on seats.
Exterior – XMT360 green Edge, XMT Glaze applied and removed with white Edge, XMT180 Wax applied and removed by red Edge.
Tires dressed with DG #281
Headlight lenses and Taillight lenses treated with Diamondite Plasti-Care
Windows – Diamondite Perfect Vision Aerosol with Cobra WW Glass Towel
Most of us mix and match products when detailing a car. It was refreshing to stay within one product line for a change of pace. The more I use the XMT line the more I like it. XMT180 is fast becoming my go to wax, not to say that it’s the only one I’ll use. I still love MaxWax, NB and of course Souveran and #16 but XMT180 is easy to use and it leaves the paint slick and looking awesome. I still can’t comment on XMT180’s durability yet. I have a few vehicles out there with XMT180 on them and will be checking the durability on them and let you know what I find. It was a dream using XMT Glaze over XMT360. Some people comment that this glaze is thin and initially it soaks into the pad. I don’t have a problem with that because it adds so much to the paint. It leaves the paint so smooth and sleek that I can deal with the thin texture. Besides once it’s absorbed into the pad it works very well and it doesn’t take a lot of glaze to cover the car.
It started to rain just as I was waxing and I had to move into the garage. Some of the after pics are in the garage, some are outside as it was just an afternoon drizzle. It was overcast so the pics aren’t the greatest.
As always your comments and questions are welcomed.
