'06 VW Passat using Meguiars MF System

Howdy everyone! This will be my second customer detail so far but my first using the Meguiar's MF System. Unfortunately I once again forgot to start taking pictures before I started doing work so all I have here is from claying onward.

I have to say that after using the microfiber pads from the MF System I'm probably never going to touch a foam pad again unless I have to. These things are so easy to clean and do an impressive amount of correction especially since I was only using a PC. I was able to use the same cutting pad and finishing pad for the entire car. Rinsing and drying pads (spin on DA for a minute) was pretty much effortless.

I am quite impressed with how this one turned out as the VW clearcoat is notoriously hard but I was able to do around 90% correction with this system. Now on to what products I used...

After Meguiar's D300 compound with MF cutting disc. Slight haze which will be removed with D301 finishing wax.

After working in the D301 finishing wax. Residue will be removed after working it in on the entire vehicle. Hood had some paint chips which I covered up with bits of tape as to not get any compound of wax stuck in the chips.

D301 finishing wax worked into the trunk. The nice thing about D301 is since it's an AIO product it can be applied to the entire vehicle before buffing out.

Subaru Outback just pulled in. Customer was so happy with the outcome of the Passat that I may be going back to do the Outback.

VERY nice work man!!! Thanks for posting the pics. I'll be getting my kit this week. As I told you before, I'll be doing a VW here soon. Luckily its a new car and won't require that much correction. Very nice work indeed! What were your methods of cleaning the pads?

With the D300 pad I just set the sprayer on the hose to a jet-type spray and rinsed the pad. I then spun the pad on my PC at speed 4 for a minute or so and then primed my pad with more compound and I was ready to go!

The D301 (finishing wax) pad needed a bit more work since it technically is a sealant as well. I ended up having to use my Pinnacle XMT pad cleaner solution along with my pad brush to get some of the finishing wax out before I rinsed it out and spun it up to dry.

Overall they are significantly easier to clean and dry than foam pads. You will really enjoy using them and I won't be surprised if you never want to touch a foam pad again afterward. Haha.
 
Pad cleaning..I saw in the Meguires MF video that was a special brush made by Meguires to clean their MF pads...have you seen it?? tryed it?

Since using the MF correction system I rarely use a foam pad and when I do iit's only for glazes or applying a sealant or wax other than D301. Any correction I do at this point is with the MF system. I can remember thinking after buying my porter cable that I was foolish for wasting my money. That was before the DA MF system was released. Now I'm so glad I bought my PC 7424xp. I can do anything with this without ever worrying about hurting the paint.

Haven't seen anything about that. I don't even need a brush when I use D300 and the cutting pad. Just rinsed it out with a jet of water. D301 on the other hand is a bit more difficult to get out since it's an AIO product. I just used the pad conditioning brush AG sells and that worked fine.

I'm going to bet that you will have some pad durability problems doing this. When you spray the pad with water you are loading it with weight then spinning it at speed may cause Velcro failure or Velcro to pad bonding issues. I think you would be way better off buying more pads and rotating them then cleaning with a more gentler method ..... No looking for a fight just saying these pads are not as durable as foam and are not as forgiving. :dunno:

Oh no offense taken. That's actually a very good point. I may just do that instead from now on. I'd rather make my pads last longer.

I'd have more of an issue with using the hose and spinning an electric machine on speed 4............ouch

hopefully you sprayed the pad off of the DA

Oh of course. I would rinse it then squeeze out as much water as possible then put it on the DA to spin it up. But I won't be doing this anymore due to the previously mentioned risks.

So far I will be using it on:

2010 Acrua TSX Black
2008 Chrysler 300C Silver
2011 VW Jetta Red

My fiance's community is having a yard sale this saturday and I will be taking that opportunity to pass out brochures I spent the last 2 days working on. Hopefully it will generate some business. I will be sure to post pics.
