So I had to work on my mother's car and decided to detail and clean it up. Mind you this car has over 132k miles and rock chips galore.

I found that the toyota paint is a million times harder than a honda paint job. After first using 4500 and a white hybrid didn't do squat.

Changed up to orange pad and fg400 and it was better but not quite what I expected.

Switched up to a hybrid wool and fg400 and it got the hood better but not what I was expecting.

I ended up using LC orange hybrid with FG400 first, and then moving to a white pad with 4500, and finished with grey and WG3.0.

Also I had some problems using the hybrid orange pad with it shedding everywhere but got them replaced by the awesome guys from Lake Country Manu.

Here are the pics.

Dirty I tell you....

After all the hard work. :P

What did you use on the engin bay? looks really good. Good job on that car also! as you say its not 100% but looking like about 75 or 80. :xyxthumbs:

Thanks! I used Krud cutter truthfully and with a toothbrush. Once it's all cleaned I go over everything with exterior trim and rubber protector from Wolf Gang. It restores the faded black plastic to a deep rich black again and it helps repeal dust in the future.

An '09 with 132k? Sheesh...good work!

Yea tons of highway miles. I should find a picture of the hood to show the rock chips... there's no way to patch all the chips, better off respraying the entire hood and front bumper.

Here's an after shot of the hood. It's hard to tell but you can see the amount of rock chips on the hood.

Nice work! I have yet to do a paint correction myself, but would be happy if my 2nd try turned out that good! :props:

I'm going to work on my daily driver and don't mind putting a lot of time into it and I'll post pics. It's a toyota corolla so we'll see if the paint is as hard.

I should have taken more pictures of the details but i'm so exhausted since most of the cars are averaging around 12-14 hours each and just take get the motivation to take pictures. :)

My lady is starting to get into being my photographer.

I posted my video on my FB after I got done editing it. People liked my video and I got compliments.

She then puts "Photography done by Maira Cuevas"

^ Hahaha (that's her name btw)

Haha... that's great. I have my wife helping doing interiors in the cars while I work the exterior so we're both beat after long details. If you see the interior of the S2k that I posted you can see the level of detail she puts in.

It's nice but just too tired to get the camera to focus...lol
