10 grammar mistakes that make you look stupid

You don't have too be an jerk about it. I'm just kidding I think your rite.

The number one grammar mistake is misusing apostrophes in plurals.

25 Mustang's In Stock!

I just ordered three gallon's of quick detailer.

What's worse, the plural apostrophe is never applied consistently throughout one post or even one sentence.

I had hamburger's with my friends at McDonalds. (If you didn't know McDonald's is possessive and requires an apostrophe, you flunk!)

I can see it now:

Saturday Grammar Class 101 at Autogeek, paid for by the Federal Government's "No Detailer Left Behind Program."

Sinceriously, I appreciate the education you have provided me. :D I don't know if anyone uses then instead of than more then I do. I was aware that I do this often but unaware of how stupid it made me look. At least this wasn't one of the 10 mistakes that make you feel stupid. Im the MAN

Seriously though, thanks for the tips. :xyxthumbs:

I will be the first to admit I am "grammar" stupid and while we are here I can't spell. So with that said please don't expect to much from me! :dunno:

Well, you used to instead of too. I guess we can let it slide this once. :xyxthumbs:

That being said, I am willing to be the Chief of the Autogeek Spelling Police. I'm a stickler for good spelling and grammar in written communication.

Now I'm to too or two scared to post anything

I'm with the OP... I get rather flustrated (flustered + fustrated = flustrated) by some of the grammatical faux-pas I see on the web. It's like a tiny bit of the English language dies every time someone flagrantly makes a debauchery of it.

On the other hand, they say ignorance is bliss. Apparently, there are a LOT of people out there who are REALLY blissful. :bash:

:dunno::bolt:

I know I'm guilty of occasionally committing mistake #7.

#7: Different than for different from
No: This setup is different than the one at the main office.

Yes: This setup is different from the one at the main office.

Yes: This setup is better than the one at the main office.

If English is my second language, do I get a pass? :poke:

Lol!! this thread reminded me of a really hilarious video!

I know this one is not a grammar mistake but the absolute worst, IMO, is when the word "the" is abbreviated to become "da". Especially here with "DA" meaning Dual Action.

e.g., I went to da garage to get da DA.

UHHG

Mistakes don't bother me too much but typing in slang or anything of the like really gets under my skin.

Shane should be made to be a Mod, with the title "Gramoderator". :props:

I like this thread; it's so fun.

Cliff

That's one that bothers me, when someone says that something is fun.
