10 minute clay job... My bad I was wrong ..

I will confess that I believe that you are a smart person, albeit, IMHO, a smart person defending a bad idea.

I will confess that I, too, have defended bad ideas in the past, and with similar vigor. (With my being a smart person, as part of the equation, debatable by many).

I really enjoy being part of the world community known as mankind; my local community where I live and socialize; and, also, being part of this AGO internet forum community. Conversely, I hope the above communities enjoy my presence as well.

With that being said...

I just feel compelled to tap you on the shoulder and say:

"Excuse me for interrupting, but, ummm, hey there...The hole you’re digging is very nice, and it is the right size. But you’re in the wrong yard."

:)

daily drivers I spend 10-15mins on. daily drivers aren't about perfect, but i want a smooth as glass feel. I spend more time on hood, roof, trunk list and rear around wheel arches(you can see contaminates bonded to paint, sometimes they need compound to clean them up. daily drivers are quick and dirty, wash, clay, wax and vacuum in 90-120mins. Get it done.

Full details 20-30mins. i want it close to perfect. really depends if the car was garaged or parked under a tree for years.

My car has tons of rail dust. i spent 15mins on one spot, maybe 2"x6" I think it needs iron-x.

the aggressiveness of the clay doesn't seem to make any difference. its about number of passes and having enough lube. not pressure or aggressiveness clay.

Well I guess you can say that I did rub the patty around but as it wasn't dirty and it's regularly maintained so it was more of just rubbing each panel lightly
Now if you will recall I mentioned the guys do this at the shop and whatever comes off with the mild clay is what it is and we take that opportunity to upsell to a FULL DECON PKG

confused. is this something to brag about??

I'm glad this thread got bumped, I needed a good laugh this evening...

for me takes me less then 10 minutes if i have 2 people, for most cars it takes me about 20 by myself, usualy i concentrate on hood, roof, trunk and front/rear bumpers mainly because thats where most contaminants are, on the sides i just go quick couple of passes i look like im twitching out when im claying because i go fast with it. my most recent wash+wax i did for a friend hasnt been clayed in 8 years or more and contaminants werent all that bad. removed all the contaminants with me going as fast as i go..not worried about marring either as most contaminated paints are loaded with swirls regardless(around here anyways).
