14 Rupes Polishers vs 1 Chevy Truck

I'm setting up the Show Car Garage for tonight's project where we'll take an incredibly swirled out 1965 Chevy Streetrod Pickup and transform it to have a true show car finish using the Rupes Paint Polishing System.

We'll be using 14 Rupes polishers including,

4 Rupes Bigfoot 21 mm Orbital Polishers
2 Rupes Duetto 12 mm Orbital Polishers
2 Rupes Mini 12 mm Orbital Polishers
5 Rupes Bigfoot 15 mm Orbital Polishers
1 Rupes TA50 Orbital Sander/Polisher

Here's the Rupes polishers wrapped and ready to go....

For the polishing step we'll switch over to a lighter cutting polish and softer pads...

To remove the wax we'll used the green rolled edge super soft microfiber towels using microfiber glovers....

We have plenty of Rupes smocks on hand....

When the truck arrives we'll get her clean using Detailer's Waterless Autowash and microfiber towels....

We'll mechanically decontaminate the paint using products from Nanoskin and Detailer's Universal Clay Lube

This is going to be a blast!

The truck is arriving at 4:30pm so we can machine scrub the tires to prep them for a tire coating. If the sun hangs around I'll try to get some good sun shots to show the before condition.

Until then, here's some pictures I took when I used this truck for my demo truck for Cars & Coffee.....

Here's BEFORE

The paint on this truck is going to push our team to the limit tonight!

I met the owner at our 3rd Cars & Coffee show while walking around talking with local car guys....

It's kind of an art to be able to walk up to a complete stranger and while introducing yourself you compliment their ride while at the same time let them know you see a little room for improvement....

:D

This is a long bed truck so there's plenty of paint that needs to be corrected, polished and sealed.

We're also going to polish the wheels, dress the tires and the tonneau cover over the bed.

Good ole blue slinger rupes pads. Too bad you weren't working with the new LC HD pads!

Great teaser, can't wait to see the finish product of this intensive work.

+1 for the HD Pads, but we can wait for another time (I respect you already got your working plan). Just don't forget we are interested in seeing them in action in your (Mike and team) hands.

For @jorgemex, sorry to say, Mike Phillips commanding a team of 14 Rupes, you will be sold on Rupes.

Mike Phillips commanding a team of 1-14 Flex, you'll be sold on Flex.

By the way, this thread will for sure add a little 'peeper' to your decision...

Good luck to everyone, have a very enjoyable day/night.

Kind Regards.

Good ole blue slinger rupes pads.

Just the nature of the beast... the same foam cell design that makes these pads great at cutting the paint also allows a little product to slink out if you're not careful or overuse the product. No big deal in my book...

You mean these?

We'll be putting these to the test tonight...

Keep in mind, I send an e-mail out with the link to all the AG Thursday projects to my e-mail list which includes all my contacts at Rupes.

So my first responsibility is to showcase the Rupes polishing system as that's the right thing to do as a professional courtesy to my friends at Rupes. Since Autogeek carries over 70 brands that makes me a a representative for over 70 brands... including Rupes.

We also carry Lake Country pads so I get to represent the Lake Country company too. But Rupes takes first priority since I showcasing their system and LC takes second priority.

But "yes" we will be testing out these new pads.

:D

Lucky guys tonight!!

And yes, the cutting of the blues does outweigh the sling, i did after all learn from you on not priming those suckers!

Sounds like a very fun project, Mike!!! I wish I can be a part of it.

I'm guessing Pinnacle Black Label Synergy as the LSP?

You should also teach things like this as marketing techniques in your articles and books. :)

You'll be using the new product you tested earlier this week in a thread and haven't said the name yet. The 'Secret / Mistery product'.

Good guess but "no".

Another good guess but "no".

Just left the garage, sounds like a hornets nest out there with all the Rupes polishers buzzing around the truck!

Blackfire black Ice or Wolfgang fusion would be my guesses........I didn't see a limit to the number of guesses! ha!

Part of me wants to say Chemical Guys Project 97 ...

But I think I'm gonna have to go with Son1c wax Phoenix
