15 detailers and 2 gallons of wax later.... B-24 Liberator "Witchcraft"

While we were working on the airplane visitors came out to see it. I noticed lots of veterans. Most were either in wheelchairs or using a walker to get around. We received lots of thumbs ups, "job well done", and smiles.

It felt great to leave the aircraft in a state as such that it was apparent that it was well cared for. Much appreciated it.

Meguiar's always made a good product, however their apparent donation of material, scaffolding, and supplies made me respect Barry and his company even more. Whenever I am deciding between a Meguiar's product or something else, I will always choose Meguiar's from now on.

^^^ That's cool.
I love them. They support detailers around the world and you can always count on them!

Ok, I got that off my chest.

10 years ago, I took a ride on Sentimental Journey (B17G) out at Falcon. I was always fascinated by that AC but when we took off, I was struck with the gaps, vibration and general lack of anything substantial between me and the ground/air. And, nobody was shooting at me. Those guys were double tough.

Thanks for doing this and more importantly, sharing it with us. When these planes are gone, they're gone. Sadly, most of the crews already are.

I heard somewhere we are losing 300 people a day from that generation!!

Sadly, So true, I had the honor of taking care of the captain of the first ship to respond to pearl harbor. Tough guys for sure. Sadly, he passed away several years ago.

Im sure it makes a lot of veterans proud to see one of their planes in good condition versus just being neglected and forgotten about like it seems you would rather have.

Museums are run by donations amd volunteers. A museums job is to preserve the past, that is what these guys did.

We are in the planning stages for another project. This time we will document it on video. It's not a done deal yet but we are getting close!!

This plane was in Virginia last weekend at the Blue Ridge Airport and walked through it a copy of times. It later was going to take off with some riders but aborted the take off. I did not wait around to see what happened. The B-17 also there did fly out with like 8 people.

I will post some pics soon...small world.

Thanks for bringing this thread back up. That is one amazing project!

Very nice work guys!

What made you decide to use the combo of products you did?

Since this is a simple machine waxing, would rotary buffers not have sped up the work?

I have never used Meg's Cleaner Wax, but it seems to do a very nice job. Is there a reason you did not go with a one step polish like Paint Reconditioning Creme, Ultimate Polish or M205? You were gonna apply a sealant afterwards so using a wax and then putting a sealant on top seems odd to me.

Results are great, I bet you guys will be talking about this one for a long time ;) Great stuff for your portfolios and websites!
