Two great ideas.

I have these two: Harbor Freight has 20% off coupons all the time making it a pretty good deal. It is supreme heavy duty BUT goes only in a straight line and does not swivel. You will never wear this one out!

For swivel, I use this one from Northern Tools which is currently on sale at the local stores for $24.95. It is not nearly as heavy duty as the HF seat but swivels and is half the price: Mechanics Adjustable Seat | Shop Seats Stools| Northern Tool + Equipment

With inspiration from those who have posted their DIY Bucket Dolley designs I decided to tackle this myself with the object on using only things I already had in the garage.

Three thoughts I had was that I'd be sure to bang my ankle on the corner if I built a square unit, there are times I really only need one bucket--(like when doing wheel wells, wheels and tires) and I needed something small enough to easily store in the cabinets I built for the garage.

Had a few pieces of 3/4" plywood left from the cabinet construction so cut two 14" round pieces then cut the center out of one using the bottom of the wash bucket for a guide as suggested earlier in the thread.

Screwed and glued the donut to the solid circle, painted the whole thing with some porch and floor enamel then attacehed the wheels. All things I had in the garage.

Guess I'll have to break down and buy a set of matching 1.5" wheels for the second unit which I plan to attach to the first with a couple of old door latches when using two buckets.

The single unit weighs 3.5 lbs with the wheels attached.

Many thanks to those who posted earlier with their ideas!!!!

Pretty snazzy! :dblthumb2:

Thanks for the awesome ideas guys! I know what I'm doing this weekend:)

any new ideas? im looking at making something in the next few weeks, I like the wagon idea as it gives room or more tools and towels. ive seen the bucket lid and casters idea, really good cheap idea but really thing im going to need 3 buckets connected in line with brakes for inclined driveways. its been 3 years since this thread so I know others have gotten creative and come up with something

Great idea! I'm headed to do the same thing here soon. I'm looking to integrate in some holders for various brushes I have and will use too. Mainly around cleaning wheels and wheel wells, etc.

I found some plant dollies that should work great and much cheaper

Here is my version. It consists of 2 cheap movers dollys from harbor freight or northern tool, 8 short pieces of 2x2, and two pieces of string. Very quick and easy to put together. Just mock it up, outline where the 2x2 pieces go, then pre-drill and screw the 2x2s in place from the bottom. Throw a loop of string around 2 pairs of the 2x2 pegs to hold the two dollys together when desired. It's very stable and glides around easily. Only thing it might be missing is some sort of brake, but my driveway is flat so I don't need such a thing.

like a grit guard, it's (bucket dolly) worth just buying because you will only need to do it once. another option is the bucket buddy which seems to be a great choice if you have a driveway that is sloped...
