Best looking car on the face of the earth. Then again I`m bias.

Looks great, love that it's a convertible....

Hi Denis,

Saw your post in this thread asking about the Rupes polishes, wasn't sure why it was in this thread and it actually deserves it's own thread so I made one for you here,

Is this Rupes a compound or a polish?

I answered your question in the thread and just to note, this is the second time this question came up this week.

:)

Great job on a real classic!! Love the white walls too!

Soooo pretty!

A car from my 'youth'.

Is that a repaint or factory...the color looks right on the money.

Bill

That color is called "Larkspur blue".It was a factory color. They had three art deco inspired colors...this one , Dessert Rose (pink) and Tropical Turquoise. (My color.)My color works well since I`m in the sub tropics. In the mid west perhaps not so much but I dont know.

I could have gone all day without thinking about, "Desert Rose"...LOL.

The 'blues' always really looked good to me.

Bill

Don`t shoot the messenger.I just report the news.LOL.

Dated a girl in HS, she would borrow her dad's car (I was w/o car in those days-no $), sucker was a Desert Rose 4 door post! Now, that was one ugly car.

Ugly is a strong word after all it`s a 57 with a Chick driving it.

Yea, gotta agree.

But will it help my case if I say this was in '58?

Then, it was more about '49 Mercs down 'in the weeds', with a 3/4 Isky, 3 '97's', and of course, twice pipes.

We sure have gone off topic haven't we...LOL.

Bill

The 58 was the red headed step child back in the day. Can`t hardly find them anymore and if you can in good shape they are not inexpensive especially convertibles.I never liked them back in the day but now I love them. The 49-51 Merc is a timeless beauty.Sorry OP for getting off tract but that`s one of the great things about this site. We`re afforded a little leeway to both gain knowledge and get to know other members and their life experiences.Sometimes we even talk about detailing paint.:buffing:

Can't speak for detailr75 on this but i love that kinda talk!

And beautiful work on that classic. The pic that Mike selected to put in your gallery is my favorite! Gorgeous!!!
