1962 Chevy Impala under hood detail---What products would you use?

This is on the books for coming March.

I am used to doing cosmetic details on newer cars---just cleaning plastic for the most part.

But doing a classic Impala is different animal. What products would you use or have found to be effective cleaning out the engine bay, aluminum intake, carbs and overall the engine?

I am thinking APC and McKee's N-914 waterless and rinseless for starters. I know that APC's can stain and damage aluminum.

Tom, I would use 914 and or WG total engine cleaner for mostly everything, and a QD for all the chrome and painted pars. (I love Pinnacle Crystal Mist). Perhaps a trim-detailer (McKees) for black and rubber hoses.

I’d stay away from degreasers or anything that will cause chalky spotting.

I am with you Tom, I use a rinseless wash and lots of cheap MF towels. A lug nut brush if needed, and sprayable dressing (I use Meg's Hyper Dressing at 4:1) to finish. I don't use any thing strong, so as to leave any original markings intact.
 
Sonax Engine Cleaner works great! I usually use a few different style brushes to agitate the surface before rinsing. After rinsing I like to use a Metro Blaster SideKick to remove any excess water left behind. Once the engine is clean and dry I spray CarPro PERL on any plastics and rubber hoses. Just make sure you cover any electrical parts when doing engine detailing. Good luck!
