I got an email last week from a client saying they had a 1963 Corvette in a barn. After exchanging a few emails I found out the Corvette was restored about 3 years, so I was glad to be dealing with a basecoat/clearcoat. As I pulled up to the owner's house for an evaluation of the vehicle, I realized this isn't a "barn." This is one of the most beautifully decorated, and most comfortable "homes" for vehicles I have ever encountered. I was ecstatic to work in such a facility and to earn a client such as himself. The owner was very straight-forward, and it turns out we lived on the same street about 15 years ago without knowing. Anyway, the owner got the car from a shop doing some work on it when he realized the paint had all sorts of scratches and marks on it. The shop obviously used some terry cloth or dirty, dusty towel to wipe dust off the car. I'm sure they had good intentions with presenting the owner with a clean car, but they had no idea the damage they were doing and what it would cost to owner to get correct.

On to the detail...

Products Used:

Some pictures aren't the greatest...this is the first time I used this specific camera for a detail indoors, I was learning a lot about the aperture and exposure settings.

I also made a quick little video of the detail:

The Split Window is my all time favorite Corvette body style.

And your work really set it off. I wonder if it looked that good on the showroom floor?

Great work on the Corvette! Wish I had a "barn" like that.

Hi Anthony,

That was an amazing restoration of a true classic...simply beautiful work! :props:

Now for some criticism.....

  1. Your shop is too clean
  2. Way too much beautiful light
  3. Way too much room
  4. Way too many creature comforts
  5. Too many top-notch tools and supplies
  6. Just too professional looking
OK, I'm green with envy and only dream of a shop like yours......:props:

Great job!

I've been accused of being ''born in a barn''. If I had that barn, I'd say da** right, still livin' there and lovin' it!

Amazing job. What a classic. Such terrible work conditions :)

Looks great! Isn't it funny how there are "barns" like this right next door and you never know it?

Great work on the greatest cars ever (mid-year Corvette's-coupes) it looks like the paint is metallic, is this true?

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm looking forward to working on the rest of his cars!

As for the paint, it had a gorgeous flake to it that the camera just couldn't capture. In person it was definitely one of the top 10 paintjobs i've seen/worked on.
