A couple summers ago my Dad had his car painted from a red almost maroon color to his favorite black. Its been a terrible experience. The painter got in over his head on this one. He broke a ton of parts and couldn't align the doors and the list goes on. So we had to pay a real body man to align the doors and that is all set now but the paint I was left with was a pigtailed like crazy swirled up and hologram covered finish.
So finally my Dad and I had time to just give this thing a once over. I didn't want to go too hard on the paint because after painting I think it was wetsanded twice so I did not want to risk ruining the finish anywhere. I measured anywhere from 165 microns to 260 microns on the thickness which includes any paint that on the layer under the new finish.
I started off with a waterless wash and nanoskin fine wipe down. This is what I started with

Thats not just a reflection its holograms up and down

Not crazy visible because I am a bad photographer but holograms again on the hood

So we masked off the car and did Menzerna fg400 on orange pads only on the hood and trunk lid where the finish has severe pigtails and a few large scratches. then the entire car was hit with a white pad and menzerna pf2500 and then finished with a white pad with menzerna sf4000 using my griots polisher because my flex wont be here until monday.
Here is the after again I am sorry for lack of quality on my images I am working on my photography skills
