Sully's write up of the 69' Camaro SS reminded me about this Z28 I did a couple weeks ago. So I figured before I forget again, I'd actually post something.
This car has been in storage for a loooong time (mouse even began stockpiling corn under driver seat) and the owner finally got it up and running and brought it over to have it cleaned up for a small town parade and car show that he was asked to participate in (which btw, the Camaro took 1st place).
No correction work done, other than some large scratches hit with Optimum Hyper Polish and LC Cyan 4" pad. The car needs body work and most of the seals and windows need to be replaced, so we decided to wait till the car was fully restored before anything like that was done.
I just did a basic wash, clay, paint cleaner/glaze and wax. Vacuumed interior and cleaned and protected with DP Interior twins.
Also since I wasn't doing any correction and was in a time crunch I didn't take many pics and just used a point and shoot, instead of my Canon 5D.
Process/products used:
Wheels cleaned with Sonax Full Effect
Tires cleaned with DP Tire Gel
Foamed with CG Citrus Wash
Washed with CG Citrus Wash using 2 bucket method with grit guards and bone MF sponge.
Dried with Cobra Guzzlers
Wheels polished using Mothers Power Ball and Mothers Metal Polish
Tires treated with Optimum Tire Shine
Optimum Power Clean at 3:1 used where needed
Clayed with Pinnacle Poly Clay
ONR used as clay lube
Optimum Hyper Polish and 4" LC Cyan pad on G110V2 used to remove large scratches.
Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish (it's a paint cleaner/glaze combo) applied with damp microfiber applicator.
Blackfire Midnight Sun applied with 5.5" LC red constant pressure pad on G110V2
Poorboys DMT towels used to remove glaze and wax
Aerospace 303 used on all rubber, plastic hoses, trim and seals.
DP Total Interior Cleaner
DP Total Interior Protectant
Misc. microfibers for interior and 303
Water spots galore and wax build up:
Filth just flowed off the wheels and tires:
Clay bar after just using it on a 1ft x 1ft area of the roof:
Coat of wax after being applied via machine:
Reflection in garage after BFMS wax:
Outside ready to be loaded on trailer:
