OMG where did you find that? Those are some groovy dance moves but that white with red stripes may just be the last nail in the coffin for Javelin.

That must have been an expensive ad to run on TV---3 min long.

The 'dance scene' kinda reminds me of the "wall" episodes from Laugh-In.

You know how they got the people in the street scenes to gawk at the car as it drove by?

There was a guy in a purple gorilla costume jumping up and down on the roof.

I believe 1969 was the year the Javelin was introduced and I was a Junior in High School......HUH?

Like Bobby, I'm old enough to remember these commercials when they originally aired. I like the subtle slide-ins of the SCCA Trans-Am Javelins, even though it wasn't until 1970 when AMC partnered with Roger Penske and Mark Donahue to dominate the season.
Also, did you notice that the model didn't choose to wrinkle her groovy polyester dress by buckling up?

Nice retro. The comment that all javelin's will sport a 3 speed floor mounted manual transmission as standard. So I guess they had 3 speed on the column shift previously. Automatics were not rarely standard.
 
I don't remember seatbelt use being required back then, but love that 3-speed floor-mounted shifter.

I do miss 3-on-the-tree a little sometimes, though.

I drove a Dodge Polara????? with the typewriter push-button shift points on the dashboard once.

And I remember driving something with a starter push-button on the dash back in '64, but it might have been an early '50s pickup.

What's new is old is new again.
