1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass - 28,948 Original Miles

A "little" detailing work?!? Looks like a full cut n buff to me. Can't wait to see the finished product! It'll be extremely interesting to see the under-hood before n afters as I particularly enjoy the contrast when something's especially grungy. Im the MANI'm wondering what the plan is for the pad on the underside of the hood. Some of the newer fabric-type pads clean up great with AA Tire Foam. I've never figured out what to use on the older ones that resemble insulation.

Any good recommendations for removing surface corrosion like what's on the master cylinder? I was recently asked how Wheel Brightener and a toothbrush might work on something like that. I told him to try it and let me know how it works out. :D

For Mike, that is a walk in the park! :autowash: :pc7424: :buffing:

In preparation for tackling the original vinyl top, I interviewed Roger Dyer at 303 Products and all I can say is it was an incredibly interesting conversation and much of what we discussed will be shared in an article on cleaning and restoring vinyl.

Shout out to Roger for being so patient with all my questions...

Finished the top yesterday, brought in a plastic drop cloth to cover it before I start on the rest of the car...

I did pull it outside and snap some shots of the Rotary Buffer Swirls in the paint... the paint is in horrendous condition!

:)

Note: If I'm not mistaken, the paint color looks to be Viking Blue

I'm a big GM fan, Buick in particular. Buick called that "AZURE BLUE" I never cared for that color. That, what I call baby blue, and the yellows of the era - blaaaa

I love that car though. My Mother had one in the mid 70s. It was gold with a tan top.

:iagree: IMO: Like those 'baby blue' and those blaaaa yellows of that era, some of the new "retro" car colors such as: the Camaro's Cybergreen Metallic, ugh, and Challenger's Furious Fuchsia, ugh also, [the Mustangs Grabber Blue and Yellow Blaze Metallic--not so bad--thanks to the new bc/cc] should be reservered for the true pre-1949 HotRodder's cars.

Loved the GM exterior gold back then also. Mine was a 1973 Monte Carlo--Gold with a White 'Half Landau" Top

That is one sexy Olds, color and all!:xyxthumbs: Love to have it!

This will also be featured on our TV Show, "What's in the Garage?" as one of my "Driver Cars". In each show I use different vehicles to with our TV show signage on the sides as we drive to different locations to check out what's in the garage?.

On Tuesday of this week we used this Cutlass...

Just to note, this car is for sale and if anyone is interested, send me an e-mail or a PM and I can put you in contact with the owner. After driving it around for an entire day I can attest that it's a great driver that looks fantastic and sound even better with the glass pack mufflers.
