1972 Challenger - Foam Pads - Meguiar's Microfiber Compound & Polish/Wax - Single Stage Black Paint

Yes it is the compound used in the newly release Meguiar's MicroFiber Polishing System. It is to be used with the cutting MF pad but Mike was showing the results when used with foam pad.

Looks good too!

Awesome work Mike, I have my order in and it's been like the longest week waiting for it to arrive to play... You have the best job!

Here's Mario's 1969 Camaro with a 1967 Corvette 427 Engine and a 1967 Corvette hood custom fabricated to fit the Camaro...

Here's the only sun shots I could get of the rotary buffer swirls as we were moving pretty quick moving cars around that day.

I'm pretty sure the swirls were in the Challenger before Mario bought it as he's a custom car painter, engine builder, fabricator and the finish on his Camaro looks pretty good. (He's also an Autogeek Customer).

I'll see if he wants to bring the Camaro down sometime to play around with...

:)

beautiful work as always Mike! And beautiful car! Meghan you should have taken it for a little spin around the block. I'm sure no one would have minded!

That Camaro looks SICK! Although is it just mee, or does the hood look like it doesn't quite fit right? Might just be because it's popped a little bit I guess. Either way, that car lookes awesome!

It's just popped open as he was showing us the engine. It fits real nice. He did some custom work on the interior too.

If he brings it down in the future I'll get some good shots of the custom work.

Cool, thats what I figured. I assumed with how good the rest of the car looked, the hood wouldn't actually be messed up. I'd love to see some more detailed pics of that beautiful ride if he brings it down to you!:props:

Great job on the Challenger, Mike. Too bad it's not the 70' model with the 340 Six Pack. If it was, I'd ask you for Mario's number to get a quote!:xyxthumbs:

What the compound cut like on a foam pad versus M105? Thanks.

Less aggressive...

For everyone reading this, remember the reason I chose polishing pads, that is pads that are NOT aggressive because this is a single stage black paint and single stage black paint is generally speaking the softest paint there is to work on.

Single stage white paint and "some" clear coats are the hardest paint to work on.

See this article I originally wrote in 1997 for more clarification on paint hardness...

Anyone that wants to better understand how the System 2000 Pad wash works here's an article in which I dissect the pad cleaner and show all of its parts.

Beautiful work! The pad cleaner is officially on my wish list to - would it work well on waffle pads (the drying aspect)???

I love this thread Mike. Very interesting reading and nice work on that challenger, it looks so wet!!!

Mike-

is that system suitable for daily drivers? I have read some people claim its too harsh since it might remove too much paint

Perfect for daily drivers and you control how much paint you remove, just stop buffing when you're happy with the level of defect removal you achieved.

Note that it is recommended specifically for factory paint.

Mike,

When using the Griots 6" D/A what speed setting did you use for both the cutting and finishing pads?

Thank You,
Buddy

If memory serves me correctly, I was on speed setting 5.0 for the compounding process and 5.0 for the finishing step. I may have bumped the setting up to the 6.0 for curved areas to maintain pad rotating. I know I did this for concave top section of the rear spoiler with 4" pads.
