My client wants me to jump into his classics this is my first time working on single stage paint The car does have swirls What I need is some advise on what products to use I have already went through,

As for the paint, like Ed posted, what do you have for,

Compounds
Polishes
Waxes
Pads
Tools


You can easily remove the majority of the swirls and scratches out of single stage black paint with a medium cut polish without the risk of removing too much paint using a more aggressive compound.


Single stage paint is actually fun to work on in my opinion. If this is you're first time I think you'll like it more than working on clear coats. You'll see pigment coming off and onto your pads and microfiber towels, just wash as normal after you're done with this project.

Menzerna Power Lock
 
Do a Test Spot with the Menzerna SI 1500 with a white polishing pad on the 6" Griot's DA Polisher on the 5 or so setting for about 6-8 Section Passes and then inspect the results.

If you still see swirls, at least enough that you want more correction then try the same polish with an orange cutting pad.

If one of the above combos work then go for it and focus on the task at hand. Avoid buffing on any raised body lines or edges.

If the above doesn't work then substitute the M105 with one or the other white/orange pads. Normally single stage black paint is pretty soft as the pigment is carbon black, basically soot mixed with resin and the soot makes the resin, (resin = paint), softer not harder.

Then finish out with the SF 4000 and then go with the Menzerna Powerlock and if you want, top with either of the two traditional waxes.
