1979 Firebird Formula Show Car Makeover

Here's how the car looked when it arrived, this was on display in a museum for at least the last two years and this means it's probably been abused frequent dusting and wiping-down by who knows what...

Here's Robert Diterlizzi doing a Test Spot using a Rupes 21 with Pinnacle Polishes...

Once Robert and crew dialed-in the process the team went to work. Now days I let people use whatever tool they like...

That car looks great, love those 8" wide wheels too! I see you guys used the 3" GG to apply the wax, yet another good use for that machine....if you must use a machine to apply wax.

You guys did a great job on a real classic!

Another Awesome job done by you guys!!! I look forward to the next Thursday night car! Hoping to get down to sunny Stuart, Florida soon! So I can join you guys on a Thursday night project!!

The Firebird was a fun car to do!
It really needed some loving, after years of being QD'd or wet towel wiped, it finally got the attention it deserved!
The turnaround was truly amazing!
Looking forward to the next, thanks Mike!

The was a mess when we received it, but now that it got the show car makeover it deserves, it is once again a beautiful ride. Thanks to Mike and the crew for turning out another successful makeover. There is always cool cars and good people to work with.

Machine application of everything is the only way to go, at least for me.

I'll be sending the link to this thread out to my e-mail list today, (that's a lot of people, I do this for all our project cars), and so the owner of this car will see the above pictures and everyone's comments.

Here's a paraphrase of his comments...

Looks great!

:D

Beautiful work gentlemen. Looking good.

Thanks Mike, the paint on this was a little on the iffy side so we really treated it with kid's gloves...

It also had overspray paint all over it and we removed this using Pinnacle Ultra Poly Fine Grade Clay. Looked like gold paint?

Once again we brought the paint(me not as much as I was focused on the Mustang that evening)to it`s potential for what the paint had to offer in the SHOW CAR GARAGE.Once again the "A" team came through on not one but two Classic Cars. Our "FEARLESS LEADER"(Mike Phillips) welcomes slight corrections to full blown in the AGG.I love AUTOGEEK and all I have learned and will continue to learn.(Plus we eat PIZZA).:hungry::buffing:

Looks amazing as always Guys !!!!

Thanks Pat...

I'd say it would be great to have your 67 Chevy II Nova here but I'm confident all we could do is stand next to it and drool.

Once again we brought the paint (me not as much as I was focused on the Mustang that evening) to it`s potential for what the paint had to offer in the SHOW CAR GARAGE.

And I'm glad you showed up and gave us a hand with the Mustang, we needed at least one more guy with experience tackling the vertical panels. Plus you gave Shawn some good pointers on technique with the Flex 3401.

Once again the "A" team came through on not one but two Classic Cars.

I don't really like doing two cars at once, this just sort of fell into place...

Our "FEARLESS LEADER"(Mike Phillips) welcomes slight corrections to full blown in the AGG.

My philosophy is to...

Take em as I get em...

Run what you brung...

I love AUTOGEEK and all I have learned and will continue to learn.
(Plus we eat PIZZA).

I'm right there with you buddy... learning that is... can't touch the pizza.
