As I suspected, it was single stage paint

. So my mind starts going through all my AG arsenal of products. I can not go too agressive, and I can not go to light. So what to do.

The Wash

I went with Optimum No Rinse. I just sprayed the car down, with the hose and then wiped it down with ONR. I think it took me about 3 min to wipe it down.
Drove it in the garage. Then it was clayed, so what could I use to save most of the paint.

XMT 360 by Pinnacle

I started with a white edge2k pad, it didn't do anything. So I bumped it up to the green edge2k pad. I worked it in at speed 5 till it disappeared. There was almost nothing to wipe off.

After the 360, I went over the car with Pinnacle's XMT Carnauba Finishing Glaze. With the white edge2k pad(now it is red). Left it on for about 10min. Topped it with Pinnacle's Signature Series II paste wax. I like it so much I bought two more tubs :D. Left it on the car, and then cleaned the windows with Diamondite perfact vision glass cleaner.
Then removed the sig series

Interior
It is a white interior:( white leather and almost white carpet. I used a mix of woolite/water to clean the leather. To condition the leather I used Pinnacle Leather Conditioner. For the carpets I used my Sanitaire carpet cleaner and water/folex solution. The floor mats are a med gray color.

Nice job. I thought ssII was a wowo wax. Is it ok to leave it on for awhile. Will it come off easy with a mf? My ssII is in the mail and I would perfer to wipe it off after I have waxed the whole car. Any problems?Feed back please

Wow suck a nice car!! Old M6 are bomb! good job too, never did a single stage paint before, must be something special

Very nice, I agree that vehicle is a classic. I always did like the older BMW's for some reason they looks classy to me.

What are your thoughts on the XMT Carnauba Glaze? I really like it and the smell, just wicked.

Great review and good pictures.

It is a wipe on wipe off wax. I was being lasy, so left it on. I had no trouble taking it off. All I use is MF towels.
In fact I did a silver car in full sun the other day with SSII and it came off easy.

I like it alot, it is the ONLY glaze I use.And it does smell good. I like how it spreads on the car, very thin, and goes a long way.
Nica, try and leave it on the car for like 15min. before you remove it. And see what it looks like. Then let me know.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think leaving it on longer will yield better results or about the same? Also, does it haze after awhile?

As for the SS II I think it is the same results, if you took it right off. As for the XMT glaze, I have seen a better result by leaving it on for like 10-15min. For the XMT glaze is a a slight haze, which comes right off.

Very nice! Is that stock interior? Looks very much up to date!

Oh-My-Gosh! That is by far the coolest detail I've seen here. I love old school Bimmers, having owned a 91 e30 318is, 92 325i, and a 95 M3. So I def appreciate a wel done classic BMW. Great work and I'm pressed with how the 360 took out the swirls.

Wow that's looking good! I never knew they made M6's back then.

Yep, the E24 6 series had the special M6 model in 87-88 I believe in the US. It has the indiviual throttle body, 3.5 liter inline 6 with something around 286hp. Sweet for back then. Same motor was in the original 88 M5, the only year the E28 5 series got the ///M edition in the US.
