1989 Jaguar XJS Engine Detail

Hello Everyone.

I would like to know if anyone has ever detailed an engine on an ENGLISH ENGINE on a Jaguar. Like an '89 Jaguar XJS. My clients vehicle has less than 15k miles on it. Once it comes out of my friends body shop, again, I need to detail it from A to Z and put it on the market to be sold. I need to know if anyone has ever detailed an older Jaguar engine before. This one, I'm kinda afraid of. I will take pics of the engine today and post it on the site.

btw - The Jaguar has never been wrecked. My owner has just a few WAY TOO MANY VEHICLES and really never messes around with this one. English vehicles, before Ford Motor Company steped in, have to be driven often to keep everything up and going. The Jag is having an new window motor place in the passenger side at this time.
 
Well, here are pictures of the Jaguars engine. Again, the Jag has less than 15k miles on it and has just been sitting at his office. Plus all the many other vehicles he owns.

I just want to make sure I do not mess up this engine.

I 've done a few old Jag's in my day (Prior to Ford) & they are an Eletrical Nightmare!!! My friend in S. Fla. owned 2, one to drive & the other stayed in a shop. Old joke, but not far from the truth. Well as you can see there is alot of exposed wiring & relays, I wouldn't say to be afraid, but have respect for it.
 
A person, not on the forum, advised me to use WD-40 on the engine. Feed back please
 
Clean the engine by hand and be careful that no connectors gets yanked in the process.
The engine is a nightmare with exposed and unsealed connector head. They can easily short out.

Well, are you folks know, this engine detail will not be a quicky. I will spray down the engine with Amazing Roll-Off, mixed with water of course, Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush and my steamer. I do not think it will be wise to use my Homo Depot HPW on THIS engine.

Still thinking about things.
 
I did the same car about 2 months ago(V12) and did use PW with APC...worked real well, came out nice

Try cleaning with ARO and then starting engine b4 washing down

wow what a rats nest!

Hard to say if I would take the PW to it or not. I'm sure you got a good feel for the PW, and of course you have excellent judgement, so I would say DO IT SRHTX!!! It certainly needs it! I bet the car's next mechanic will appreciate working on a clean engine for once ;)
