The car is a 1992 Mercedes Benz 300E 4Matic that according to her hasn't been waxed in years. It only gets a wash when it does to the dealer for service. To say te paint was in bad shape is a groos understatement. There was endless water etching spots, dirt spots deep embedded into the clearcoat and tar spots everywhere.

I had washed the car last week and it has barely been driven since so it was cleaner than normal to start. I used the NTS7 wash (still dont understand why it isn't more popular) and followed that with the clay bar. I have never seen as much grime get pulled out by a clay bar before.

I then moved to XMT #3 with a green pad but that wasn't getting it done so I moved on to the yellow pad. The clear was hard as can be so it took a long long time to work it in good. In fact by the time I was 2/3 done with the XMT #3 I realized this car truly needed to be wet sanded to get it really clean and remove all the scratches, most of which were actually cracks in the paint under the clearcoat.

I then followed with XMT360 and the orange. I simply can't say enough about 360. What a wonderfully verstile product.

For a final coat I used SSII which went one very well and it was quite easy to put on and buff off.

THe final touches were cleaning up the windows t remvoe the remaining dust and finger prints and to liven up the wheels. Those got XMT360 by hand (again worked well) and PB wheel sealant.

The detail was tough and there are simply spots that won't ever come clean without wetsanding. Total time 5hrs. Enough yapping...here are the pics.

(you can see how dull & dirty the paint is)

That is one dirty Merc. The turn around is great though, looks so nice and smooth. Man now that's a house, the picture with the vehicle in the front and the house in the background wow...better not let the wife see this one, that's the style of house my wife wants...I don't mind either as long as I get my 5 garages :D

Vehicle looks great, thank you for sharing.

Nice job on the mercedes! I like how it looks, just as a brand new one! Sweet house :D

Yeah I wish that were my house...lol

What is crazy is that this pics looks like it just needs a wash but that is after several washes. That dirt is just set deep in the cc and was all over the hood. I was able to get most of it out.

Nice job tcb, but why did you use a white polishing pad to wax?

Thanks!

You mean a opposed to by hand or opposed to a different color? The Edge white pad is supposed to be used to apply wax, at least according to them.
