I love this car... Say what you will about his choice of wheels and body kit (he actually didn't get much choice in the kit. The guy he sold it to and then bought it back from put that monstrosity on there) but this is still the baddest car I've ever detailed. I'd take this over anything else I've touched any day of the week. It is a gorgeous car that performs like nothing else. This motor produces just over 850 HP and puts over 600 of that to the wheels. The owner has been modifying Supras for a very long time and he knows how to build them right. This is an awesome car to behold and even more awesome to ride in.

There are few things more lovely in this world than a blue car reflecting a blue sky... I love that angle too. The lines on the Supra are just gorgeous. This is definitely a dream car for me.

I agree with you. Those are very cool cars. I would love to have one. Justin did a couple of posts detailing one as well. Awesome cars.

I love the picture of the engine! And the side shots with the mountains in the background are nice.
 
I don't ever say this about cars... but that car is FINE!!!! HOTT!!! WOW!!!

Honestly though I don't see anything wrong with the rims and body kit, vehicle looks great and the engine bay looks wicked :righton: :righton:
 
850hp through the automatic? How he managed to do that?
 
Is it a GM automatic? I know that they will drop in GM TH-400s sometimes...
 
Awesome looking Supra. Yeah the auto shifter stuck out to me but apparently it works. Would love to go for a ride to see how it compares to my Turbo Buick. Great job on the detail and lucky you for going for a ride.
 
The motor doesn't care what kind of transmission it is connected to. Only about 600 of those ponies are going to the wheels anyway. As far as how he did it, that is a question you would want to ask him. He is the mechanical genius here, not me. lol Let me just say that from what I know about Supras, it isn't hard to get extremely high numbers just with bolt-ons. You hardly have to touch the internals on this thing to choke major power out of it.

The reason he went with the automatic, other than for the rarity of the auto in this color combination, is because his driving is done in a straight line when he is using that power. It is a track car and not a canyon cruiser. He has had manuals in the past on different applications, but for what he wanted to build on this one, he needed the automatic. Nothing shifts faster in a straight line. ;)

Yes, hard core Supra drag racers do drop TH-400s in. It can hold tons of torque. However, this seems to be stock (based on stock shifter).

Yes, that is exactly my experience with my automatic Supras too. That, among few other things, is one of reasons why I looked for automatic and not manual when purchasing them.

Yes, it doesn't take almost anything to get 400+ hp out of engine. However, while engine might not care what transmission it is hooked up to transmission does care because if it can not handle that much it (tranny) will go bye bye or have significantly reduced longevity. Stock auto trannys are not capable of holding 800+ hp, not even 600+. Even built up ones built by Sound Performance did not have longevity when hooked up to that much power, so naturally I am curious how he did and will need to ask you for hookup as that is one of my main obstacles, I want longevity.
 
a built auto can hold more power then a manual, and if hes using it for drag I see his point. Guy down the street has an 04 cobra that he had to convert to auto so he can push the power hes got on it, its a complete drag car.

But as far as the car, the body kit id be able to live with but those wheels gotto go

No built (starting from stock) auto on Supra was coming close to it's stock 6-speed Getrag while maintaining same longevity.
 
I don't know much about the mods he did on it before I saw it, but I found an email he sent me before he put it in storage for the winter.

"The T-78 turbo will soon be replaced with a smaller and more efficient T-67 Dual ball bearing unit, and a matching 3500 stall single disk torque converter - and a newly built Boost Logic racing tranny."

So I don't know if that helps any... I've never gotten as far into modifying cars as he has, so a lot of what he says goes way over my head. He likes to do the work himself instead of farming it out. I'm more of the type to send the car to someone who knows how to do it right and then enjoy the driving of the machine. :)
 
The car looks great, rims remind me of Mustang rims which I don't like but everything else looks real good, must perform great.
 
Whoops... Looks like I'm going to have to change the title of the thread. It wasn't a '94 after all. It's a '97. My bad. Anyway, he sent me this link back when we first started talking about getting it back into shape. I think the pictures are broken, but you get the idea. Those are the mods before he sold it the first time. He has done some tweaking on it since then.
