Well here is the Volvo. Poor thing is in rough shape the owner (my wife) demanded perfection and I was more then happy to deliver.

1995 Volvo 960

Interior Process:

Vinyl and rubber:
Started off by giving the vehicle a nice wipe down with Megiuar’s APC mixed with water 10:1. Then dressed with 303 (I like this 303, glad I picked up some extra bottles of it).

Carpet:
First I gave it a quick pass with the Shop Vac then used Meguiars APC with the help of my Little Green Machine.

Leather:
Wolfgang leather care cleaner, sprayed on the leather and then wiped off with a microfiber towel.
Then hand applied/massaged in the Wolfgang leather conditioner, left the conditioner for a few hours and then wiped whatever was left over (not much because majority was absorbed into the leather) with a micro fiber.

Exterior Process

Engine bay:
First I protected the alternator and sparkplugs with a plastic bag (garbage bag) then proceeded to spray P21S Total Auto Wash full strength let it sit for about 5 minutes then sprayed some more P21S Total auto Wash and used various brushes to scrub. Then rinsed the engine area dried it by air with the help of my Shop Vac (has the ability to blow air), applied Stoner Trim Shine let it sit for a few hours then came back used the Shop Vac again to dry the entire engine bay.

Rims/wheel wells/Tires:

For the rims I used P21S gel formula agitated with my Swissol wheel brush. After rims where cleaned I finished them off with Zymol HD cleanse and toped off with 1 – Coat of Zymol Concourse
For the wheel wells I used P21S Total Auto Wash full strength
Tires and wheel wells were finished off with Stoner Trim Shine

Wash:
Prior to wash I sprayed P21S Total Auto Wash all over the vehicle then I used Zymol Clear Auto Bathe with two bucket method and the white ShMITT.

Clay:
I clayed the hood and the roof with the Ricardo clay bar but the clay came out clean, so I didn’t clay the rest of the vehicle (keep in mind that this vehicle sits in the garage for majority of the time, only comes out on weekends)

Polish

Wet sand – 2000 grit sand paper (some spots)
Menzerna 106FA – Makita (on the hood/roof/trunk) – Menzerna Orange Pad – 1500rpm
Menzerna 106FA – Metabo (on the door’s, rear bumper and everything that was left) – Menzerna Orange Pad – 1500rpm
After wet sanding I gave the vehicle a nice alcohol wipe down, same goes for after polishing. Just to make sure.

Prepping for wax:
Zymol HD cleanse applied by hand with applicator and removed by hand and MF towel.

Wax:
1 – Coat of Zymol Concourse applied by hand and removed by hand with the help of micro fiber towels.

Exterior plastic peaces/trim:
I used 303 Aero Space protection

Glass:
Stoners with glass Cobra MF then used Zymol HD cleanse and topped off with a coat of Zymol Concourse Wax

Observations/comments:

Now I wet sanded a few spots and used 106FA too remove all off the wet sanding spots as well as all the minor micro marring. Now 106FA is a good product, it dusts a little not as much as 106FF but it still dust, didn’t bother me though. On some of the wet sanding spots I had to go over twice to complete remove the wet sanding marks. Please note that I went from 2000 grit sand paper to 106FA. Works great. Another thing to note is that I had to return my paint gauge so I wet sanded with out taking readings (made ma a little nervous considering the vehicle is older so extra caution was taken, three passes max, wiped the area for inspection and kept the sand paper well lubricated). I really tried to use the Makita on the entire vehicle and it did fine on the large surface areas but when it came to do the door’s I just couldn’t get a comfortable grip on the Makita, had the Metabo next to me and temptation set in, I switched machines and off I went. One thing I do like about the Makita is the trigger, its fun. I had fun with the trigger but to me it just can’t seem to beat the Metabo (that’s just me though). So I’ll be giving the Makita away as a gift as original plan. I just wanted to make sure the Makita worked properly before I give it to my friend.

On these two pictures there is a scratch that I missed. Hopefully you will be able to see it, in the Brinkman pictures it’s in between the two lights. On the 3M Sun Gun picture it’s beside it (to the right). Happy to say I removed the left overs.

(I was happy with how the rims turned around, I mean considering it's 12 year old vehicle not to bad huh)

Finally!! I have been waiting on this one buddy :D The car looks fantastic. It had some bad scratces, but you managed to remove them. Well done ;) I bet the volvo is happy that you owns him :p If I was a car, I would have you as my owner. hahaha. Great writeup to, like how you are detailed, thats great! Can`t wait to do some wetsanding my self. The car came out great, the interior looks like new! And the engine bay, SWEET BRO :D To bad the hood most be closed :p

Some questions to you, if its okey. How do you like the zymol wax, worth the extra bucks? And how do you like stoners window cleaner? Ever tested dp krystal vison? Do you feel zymol hd cleansing works good, and helps with the finish? Hope I don`t asked to mutch questions :p

Good job!! Looks great! Oh, and I love pictures :D Never to mutch ;)

pirex - Glad you like it bro, I took my time with it. To answer some of your questions, now I'll answer them but I'll be kind a bit brief as I know how tight AG is talking about other products. So do I like it? Yes I like it. Is it worth it? It's all personal perspective bro, I personally noticed the difference when I went from Mothers three step (that's how I used to "detail") compared to Souveran. My personal opinion pirex is that I want to use as many waxes as I can get my hands on and when I find one that I absolutely love I'll stick with it. So to me, it's worth using it and I like the results. I'm a firm beleaver you pay for what you get. Besides if you have the extra cash and want to give it a try I'd incurage it. Stoners window cleaner, I really like it. Leaves no streaks and removes lots dirt off. I can't say I have tried krystal vison, is it good? I personaly like the HD Cleanse but mind you I haven't really tried any other Cleanse. But I'm about to recieve my next order with some more goodies and there is a cleanse that I really want to try. lol pictures, yea I may have over done it but just thougth I'd share. I love questions bro, so don't worry about asking. If you want a more in to depth answer about Zymol or anything else I used send me an e-mail and I'll go in to full details ;). Glad you liked the detail.

D&D Auto Detailing - Thank you for the compliment, means a lot to me.

07ImpalaSS - Yes, the color is wicked, thank you.

Al-53 - Glad you like it Al. The more I use the HD Cleanse the more I learn from it. Oh yea the headlights and the bumber are going to be replaced, the front is all beat up but my friend that owns his own body shop ordered a new bumper for me. The entire fron end will be repainted, well not the hood just the bumper and the headlights will be replaced with new once. I took the Volvo out on a road trip and a big rock hit the side marker and well that's what I got, but that's okay they were all cracked and all so they needed replacement any way. Glad you liked it Al and than you for the kind words.

I know what you mean about waxes, I wish I had many many cars in my driveway, so I could test waxes all day long :D Stoners is looking good, I have it in my basket ready to get ordered..I use krystal vision now, but are soon empty. Its a great product, that works good! But its always great to test new things. I have tried pinnacle cleanse, and it worked great. Most look into it. No over done on the pictures! Shiny car is great, and the volvo is sweet :D

That is one awesome turnaround! But you're right, that poor front-end looks like it's taken a right beating. Missing blinker, and is the front bumper full of road rash?

Poor Volvo! But I bet your wife was so pleased with the end result. GREAT WORK!!!

Looks great Nica...

Ill even go as far as say that you can do my car anyday....he he

pirex - You'll like Stoners bro, it's a good product. I just wished I had more vehicles to detail...well that and more time work has be way to bussy right now....but oh well can't complain it's all good.

P1et - Yea poor Volvo has seen some really bad rock chips other vehicles scratching up next to it...so it needs a nice make over. I love the color so it's going to stay the same color but soon it's going in to have the front end re-done. The wife loved the results, she likes the new skills I picked up :D she gave me the green light for other things I wanted to purchase to play around with hehehehe ;)

Truls - Thank you bro, man that's a compliment. A detailer saying he would trust me with this vehicle sweet. Thanks bro, glad you liked it.

You better get some more lighting Nica, I think I saw a swirl mark.;)

Just kidding, it looks very good. I see you even took the license plate off.

Nice work! I have to try your Metabo one day, I still think I am buying a 9227 when I am in Seattle though. I love the trigger and the handle!

OT, but I am guessing you didn't find my Oakleys?

Nica my friend you are over the TOP when It comes to detailing!!! I might do it professionally but you sir are professional. The precision and time you take it amazing!! Buff out her headlights with some compound, polish... make'em a little clearer. Other than that...top notch. The engine detail is phenominal!! You definately need to move to my neck of the woods!!
