I'm working on a neglected 1998 Black Expedition. The chrome
trim around the grille has water run fades on it. The piece appears
to be plastic that looks like chromed metal. What the "damage" looks
like is as if water ran down a colored surface constantly in a small
stream and faded a line through the paint. Any ideas on how to
correct this problem or does it have to be replaced?

Thanks

I have seen what you are talking about before. My guess is that it will have to be replaced because the "chrome" look is in the backing of the plastic, and it is separating from the rubber or plastic part. Without picutres though, it is hard to say for sure.

the grill will have to be replaced because it's fake chrome u cant really repair it
It happed on my friend ford and we had to replace the grill because the more
we kept trying to fix it more came off:Picture:

I will take and post pics this weekend as I am
going to be doing the entire vehicle. Lots or
marring/spider webbing/and so on. I am thinking
of painting it to match the vehicle.
