Hey everyone.

Saad from Obsession Car Detailing in Canberra, Australia (Obsession Car Detailing). Thought I should share this, and also share my experiences and problems with it!

The owner of this car is my landlord for my shop, and he is planning to sell it, so asked me to bring it back to scratch. He said "I dont want it perfect, just make it look better than it is now", but me being me, and loving this car, decided to go a bit further. To be honest, I wish I could have spent more time, I would have loved to polish the tiny areas by hand or with a 1" pad, wetsand some deeper scratches, take the wheels off, polish the exhaust and suspension, but that would add a LOT of extra time, and this car was done in between other jobs I had booked in. I'm quite happy with the job :). I'm hoping whoever buys it brings it back to us for a complete detail, coating, and PPF job :)

I tend to use Opti-Coat and Kamikaze Coatings - we are the Canberra Opti-Coat Centre, and in the 5 years I've been using it, never had a single issue. I love Kamikaze, and we used to do Modesta too, but now just OptiCoat and Kamikaze.

Being that this car was for sale, using a coating wasn't worth it, and I really needed needed an excuse to try the ANGELWAX Products which are new to Australia, so I decided to use Ti-22 Sealant, and then bought a sample pot of Angelwax Desirable Carnuba wax to top it with.

Before and During

The car had the usual swirls and scratches, and was obviously a little dirty from the weather.

I couldn't get all the swirls out from the lights without sanding, but regardless a huge difference:

I used Angelwax Regenerate, a medium cut compound, with a Rupes Yellow pad. This gave good cut and an excellent finish. I then polished using HD Polish on a Lake Country black pad - more on that later.

The car was wiped down with CarPro Eraser, then sealed with Angelwax Ti22, and Desirable Wax:

The interior was quite bad, so I used Optimum Power Clean to brush the leather, it was then wiped using ONR, and then dressed using Optimum Protectant plus:

The problem

The next day, I took the car out into the sun. Unfortunately it had been raining the whole week prior. I saw these light holograms/trace marks. The car was not polished with a rotary, so how could there be holograms? I though maybe it was wax residue, but wiping with IPA made no difference. Maybe it was super stubborn? I polished with M205, wiped, took it back outside, and there were more marks! So perhaps it was micro marring from the towel, or the polish residue was not wiping off? In the end, I polished it again using HD polish with a super soft red HD finishing pad, using speed 2, then wiped in one direction only using a brand new microfibre. This did the trick. The marks were only visible in the sun. Still no idea what they were, the paint isn't so soft as to marr easily, but maybe its sticky and its hard to wipe off residue? Pictures below of the marks:

End Results

It all worked out fine in the end though :)

Thanks for reading!

Really nice work! I love the 993. This one looks spectacular now.

Excellent work! Car looks great now! Very nice. It should bring in a pretty penny when sold!

Too bad you didn't get to work the car to perfection. Could have fooled me, that Porsche looks amazing. Only you and few others will notice the lack of suspension polishing:)

BTW, your logo is really creative, I like it a lot. Keep sharing your work, looks like you have some "ok" cars to show:)

how did you remove those marrings at the end?

Hey Sam - that where i had to polish the car again, using HD polish and a super soft finishing pad. I think working super slowly and not really letting the polish break down is what allowed it to be wiped of cleanly.

Thanks mate. Here in Australia, there aren't that many "nice" cars, as all the European cars are so expensive, plus the population of where we are is only about 350-400,000, but we do get some pretty nice cars in from time to time!

You knocked 18 years off that cars age!

Very nice!!
