So I got some FK hi-temp wax in the mail today and I had to try it. I can't sleep tonight since I'm on shift lag, so I just put it on an hour ago. First off, WOW this stuff smells like gas, I'm surprised I didn't get high as I put it on lol. My car received an ONR rinseless wash first of course. I already have a coat of Blackfire WD and a coat of Meg's #26 on there already that's about 3 weeks old. This stuff applied really easy with a Meg's foam applicator, much better than I expected after initially looking at it. You could definitely tell it was synthetic cause it spread like butter using straight line motions. I applied a thin layer to the whole car and buffed off after about 20 mins of cure time. It came off with ease, almost as easy as my BFWD does. I did all the glass as well minus the windshield. All I have is a single CFL in the ceiling but you can get an idea of the NICE gloss this stuff leaves behind. From what I hear it's got outstanding durability too, especially in the hot florida spring/summer/fall and most of winter lol. I plan on getting some sunny pics tomorrow and I'll post those as well, everything but the first pic was taken with the wife's Canon SLR.

I actually used so little of the paste too that I can easily see getting 3-4 years out of the tin which is unbelievable for $18. Great value here. I got some Collinite 915 coming in today which I'm anxious to try on the wife's Ram this weekend. Will update this thread with sun and beading shots later on. Thanks for looking!

Wow that's impressive! So BFWD, Megs #26, and FK Hi Temp FTW.

Does AG sell the FK? Too tired to go searching from my iPad.

Way to go! :righton:

Yes they do, and again at $18 for this much you really can't go wrong.

Thanks! I'll have to add a tin to my next order. I'll be curious to read your thoughts on collinite 915. I have a tin of that but have yet to use it (along with much of my winter purchases).

Surprisingly, it looks good on that black paint, which I assume was polished to perfection. I love it on light metallic green but "I" find it OK on black. It is really a steal at $18 given how much applications it will give you. It has great durability, above average sheeting, and not below average in other aspects. You may love or hate it looks. In case you don't like how it looks, it will not go to waste by using it as a base for your favorite wax/hybrid and take advantage of its durability. If you love to apply paste waxes, you should have this sealant. Some claim that you can layer it on top of other sealants; I haven't tried it yet and I have no way to determine if it will work.lol

Looks great. I have decided that FK1000P is the wax for my car. I have had it on all winter and it still looks great. I love how the car cleans up since using FK1000P.

Car looks great and like I say, black is great when its someone else's, LOL! I see its all original, any plans for some 17's or 18's on it, those 16's look so small, just sayin'. I'd love to see some 18" Torque-Thrust style wheels on it, charcoal spokes and polished lip!

Keep up the good work, your combo seemed to do the trick!!!

What a deep, dark, luxurious glean your TransAm has...Your LSP products even made the dressed-tires look gray in this sun-shot...Fantastic!!

:)

Bob

At first I thought the tires weren't dressed because how black the car is! Looks great!

Yeah the 16's are underwhelming on this car but I'd rather just keep it stock. It's going to be a future garage queen once I pay off my small loan for it. The idea is to do more restorative type stuff to it like new bushings, springs, mounts etc. I hope to have all that done by the time I park it next year.

So your going to bring it up to new standards and then park it in the garage:confused:

Indeed, I'd like to drive it til it's paid off then park it and keep it as my collector's car. Then I'll restore the minor things to increase the value of it and to bring it back to "mint". Hell, maybe one day the TA will be worth something. I will then get something newer and nice for daily driver use. But that's just the plan, it's more likely that I'll sell it to finance my next car, maybe a 2014 50th anniversary Mustang GT if the wife allows it. LOL

Just some food for thought, if you base things off of the popular auctions out there, its hard to say what's going to be "collectable" and what's not, so you run the risk of doing all that work and then not enjoying the car, just my opinion. I mean a car like that, where you live, can be enjoyed year round and that's what I would do with it for sure. It can be maintained and kept in great condition with help from this site for one, you taking care of it and good ol' Mother Nature down there, just sayin'.

If you look at what some of the 1990 ZR1's have sold for, well, you'll see what I mean. They cost $70k 21 years ago when first new, they haven't held their value and no offense, but those are more collectable than a basic T/A, not even a WS6 or FireHawk even.

I'm sure you'll keep it up nicely either way though:xyxthumbs:

Yes our generation missed the huge inflation of values that we're seeing now from the 60's-70's cars. I'm not keeping this car to retire one day lol. It might be worth $20,000 in 20 years. I don't know. Regardless, being an automatic with a rearend whine it's not the most fun daily driver so while I enjoy how it looks, I don't plan on driving it much longer. Although, I do like having a TA and I might even cash it out to get a '78 TA to keep instead because I REALLY love the second gen firebirds. I've just always respected the guys who held onto their old cars throughout the years instead of just trading them in like I've always done before. In the meantime, I'm just gonna keep it squeaky clean.

The "Bandit" era T/A's are going up and up already! I like how Year One has the 18" version of the honeycombs, those are SEXY as hell, I'd love to have one in my living room as a piece of art work to be honest with you and when you see a set of them on a gen II Firebird, well, you can only imagine!! I think the 80 TTA would be awesome to have too, those stock wheels are sweet as hell but that 301 turbo w/ 200 hp, well, that sucks and I'd drop a 455 in there and turbo that, imagine how fast that would be, talk about "screamin' chicken"!!!

yeah, those wheels are awesome. I had an 81 Trans Am with that anemic 301 back when I was 20. I only had it about 5 months. It needed alot of work and I had bitten off more then I could chew at the time. Those were a great 5 months though. I got so many dudes giving me thumbs up as they drove by. Good times indeed.

Was it the turbo or the NA version, I'm surprised that they offered a 5 litre in those, so heavy and so underpowered, I'm glad we've been in the modern version of the "good ole' days" the past 15 years! Imagine this, a Saturn Aura XR would absolutely smoke a 6.6 T/A, how amazing is that!
