M105 is a tad bit more aggressive. Ultimate Compound is really similar, but more of a retail product I guess. You would probably be fine with ultimate compound as well as ultimate polish as that is M205 what ultimate compound is to M105.

I don't know how hard/soft the Suburu paint is so I don't know how well M205 finishes down. I know some do and should chime in!

As for Microfibers there are alot of opinions, I will see if others post their opinions.

For just general cleaning I would get Meguiar's APC+..it's almost a must have in my book. I can't think of a cheap trim right off the top of my head right now.

There are many great products and using the correct techniques you will achieve excellent results with any of them. All of the products recommended in this thread will do just fine with if you follow a correct process.

Perhaps the best place to start is Mike P's articles and videos. Here's the start page. I'd read everything and watch the videos: Auto Detailing Facts, auto detailing Tips, How to detailing Guides, how to polish, how to wax, DIY detailing, do it yourself guides.

There are also some great polishing videos here: Porter Cable Polisher How To Video Archive and here: How to remove swirls and scratches. Here's a good video on how to apply sealants and waxes: How to Apply Waxes and Paint Sealants.

There are some good videos and posts on using the Megs MF System on the Meguiars forum.

The key I found to achieving good results is reading the articles and viewing the videos. It is imperative that you understand the processes and techniques BEFORE you purchase, and most certainly before you try this on your car. Good luck.

Clay - Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay (This should be find for light removal, I haven't used it, but people seem to like it.)

Sealant - Menzerna Power Lock (I just gave you a sealant instead of a wax since it lasts longer)

Dual Action Polisher - Griot's Garage 6 inch Random Orbital Polisher
Backing Plate - Dual-Action Hook & Loop Flexible Backing Plate 5" (I like using 5 1/2 inch pads better than 6 1/2 inch pads as I feel they correct better)
Pads - 6 Pack of Lake Country 5 1/2 inch (You probably won't need the yellow, you will need more orange and white than blue and black)
Applicator Pads - Package of 6 Pinnacle Foam Wax Applicators
Light - Brinkmann Maxfire Dual Xenon Rechargeable Swirl Finder Spotlight ( Vital if you want to see the true condition of the paint)

This is just some stuff that I like and are proven products that work for ME.

FYI, I bought the Meg's Gold Class Shampoo, Meg's Claying Kit and Mother's Tire and Wheel cleaner. I just finished washing the car and wow, these products are amazing! I will test out the clay tomorrow.
