Het guyz, well th eweather finally cleared up and I finally got to detail a car. And boy was it a job. This was for a friends dad, he is selling it so he wanted it to look good. By the way if anyone is interested, he is selling it for only $15,000, its something like #76 on the SVT roster, only 80,000 miles on for over a seven year period, I mean he babies this thing, this finish is a hell of alot better after I got it, but it could use a paint job, still I know how wanted that truck is and how hard it is to find one, so if anyone is interested let me know. Anyway, this truck was a mess, yes he babied it but, didn't really care for the paint that much. It was covered in swirls and marring, but I got about 90% of them out. Here is what I did and used.

Washed: NXT and Cobra Bone, Purple Power as an APC.
Clayed: Sonus
Polish: Megs. #83 and an Orange Edge Pad, I was really amazed with this stuff, hadn't used it in while due to the excessive amounts of dust, but this stuff cuts quickly and finish with light marring. I finished with ssr 1 and white edge pad, both on 5.
Wax: PB Natty's Blue, 1 coat.
Wheels: DP Wheel Glaze and Megs. Hot Shine/Amorall Tire Gel combo.
Windows: DP Glass Polish Restorer and a yellow spot buff pad on a corded drill and Stoners IG
Trim and under fenders: Ardex Speedy Brightner
Inside: Megs #40, Woolite/water for carpet and suede, Stoners IG on glass.

It took about eight hours, I had to come back the next day for pics.

Yep, 2007 Ford Saleen F-150, this truck is bad ass, 5.4 with a supercharger, saleen suspension, and 23! inch tires, those things are bigggggggggg. This is my new dream truck.
 
Wow, that is freakin' impressive! those were some truly horrid swirls on that truck - yikes!

Nice work !! The lightning is my favorite truck. (Actually the only truck I like, I am NOT a truck guy) Hopefully he sells it for more since it looks AMAZING!

you did a great job of removing those swirls, it looks really shiney too!
 
What a turnaround! Awesome work! After using Megs #83, did you fine yourself rewashing the truck? #83 is an awesome product, but the only thing I hated about it was the dust! 90% of the time after using #83, I had to rewash.

I did have to rewash, the dust from 83 is pretty heavy, but after doing a rewash, something I rarely do, I've decided to do it from no on, no matter what polish I use, a heck of a lot easier than trying to use a qd. I haven't used 83 in a while, to be honest I almost stopped using it, but after this truck I was amazed how easy and well it worked.
Hey you use a lot of duragloss stuff, I'm going to get some 105 cause everyone says its good on white, I was wondering is 105 like a cleaner/wax, or just a sealant, and can it be put on with a d/a.

Have you tried either mixing up a bottle of #83 and #7? Like 19/20's #83, 1/20 #7.

Since #7 is a "pure" polish, and has nothing else in it but oils, this would result in less dusting and a bit longer working time.

Or you can do a pea sized dot of #7 and a nice nickel sized #83 on the pad. I know it takes a few seconds longer, but when working out in the sun, this helps tremendously.


*Or you can pick up some Optimum products. I still use some #83 with OC or DP's Super Swirl Remover and OC.

Not 83 and 7, but I'm ordering some OC and OP and plan on mixing some 83 with them. Can you just premix the two before in a bottle or is it better to just do on the pad?

Plan on mixing 83 with both OC AND OP?

I'd do 83 with OC or 83 and OP.

If you want to mix them in a bottle, try a small bottle first. Something from Wal-Mart's travel section. Make sure you have the right mixing.

I'd try 3/4 OP/OC and 1/4 83 first.



I just keep an extra MF near-by and when dusting occurs, a quick wipe, and its gone. Nothing soo extreme that I would need to re-wash. Even with just 83 in the sun. Maybe you were working it a minute to long? Dusting occurs with 83, I will agree, but I haven't seen enough to re-wash.

OC/OP is some good stuff. You know you can use #6 on your PC? I use #6 with OC and 83 all the time. Don't use the handle, and use the head of the machine.

Damn great job on that, i had a 03 Harley Davidson F-150 and boy let me tell you that marring just comes up out of nowhere, great job on that hood, and the car as a whole.

It just depends on how bad the swirls are. Remember, the least aggressive first.

OP/83 should be your new "staple" swirl remover. Remember, you need heat to break down OC, so don't be afraid to use speed 6.
