2000 Subaru Outback

I was contacted by someone who was looking to get their car ready for sale. The car had around 90k miles and is about 12 years old. Last couple years the owner didn't do much to keep up with the appearance of the vehicle. We agreed to have the exterior of the car to be washed/clayed/AIO, detail engine, and headlights restoration. The interior looked like it needed a lot of work. There was a layer of garbage, which I needed to move to see the condition of the floor. The interior needed steaming/extracting. I told her I need to spilt up this car into two days because it will take about 16 hours to finish.

Here are couple photos of the car when I first saw it.

Day 1
I wanted to finish the exterior/headlights/engine bay in one day and knock out the rest on day two.

I started the day by foaming the car down with Dawn soap/APC+, let it dwell for a couple minutes and then rinsed. Two bucket method was then followed.

While I was claying, (purple clay) I had a helper who took out all the garbage and vacuum the interior.

Then I went with Griot's DA, orange pad with DP AIO. I was really happy with the results, it brought back some shine to the car. Anything more would just be a waste.

I then started taping around the headlights, wet sanded with 2k grit. And finished with Surfbuf 5.5inch pads. Sealed with spar urethane.

The engine hasn't been cleaned in years. I went with APC+ and some brushes to get the job done. Then dressed with Meguair's Hyper dressing.

The trims looked a bit faded.

Thanks for looking! :dblthumb2:

Just when I was about to throw up, you put in an "after" pic and made it all better! Phew, you made me tired and I just looked at the pics....... WELL DONE, looks much better

Wow, that car looked like it had not had anything done to it in the 12 years ... O_o.

Hopefully the new owner will enjoy it!

Wow that looks amazing. My dad has a old Subaru Impreza and its very dirty. Probably dirty as your before picture. Nice work :D

Nice job! Love the cassette deck in the console; sure brings back some memories.

Great turn around Gary. The whole vehicle was Trashed but you really brought it back to life.

I just dont understand how people can let their cars go so long like that. Its just nasty!!

I worked in a body shop, and even though the customers were told to remove everything from their vehicles, they hardly ever did.. How many of you pros have found roaches in cars? lol

Indeed a great turnaround.

Did you notice that the carpets seem to get dirtier as you cleaned them ? Just wondering as I've witnessed this scenario with neglected carpets as the impacted dirt just kept coming forward.

My sincere congratulations! :dblthumb2:
I don't know how much she payed you (if at all) but I'm sure she will get it back X 10.
Keep up the excellent work!

Man Gary that thing looked like its been in the junk yard for the last 5 years!

Great Job MY Friend!
