2001 Blue Corvette Convertible Paint Correction.

Great pix, instructions, and lessons learned. Thanks for taking the time to pass that information along to us. I know it added more time to the marathon.

And I think that's part of the space station you caught in the reflection shot. :-)

That C5 was a boatload of work Dave and the clears are very hard which makes correction a bear!

What a great writeup, nearly a step by step including what didn't work and what did...Simply awesome Dave!! :props:

Nice work... but a lot of hours went into that project. Consider Menzera with a yellow foam pad, and Collinite by hand 2 thin coats at the end. The results will be night and day especially on the finish of Corvettes.. The shine will last a lot longer and the wax protection will stand up and bead much better. What did you use on the rims ?

Thanks, glad you got something out of it.

Thanks Bobby, If anyone knows Corvettes it would be the detailing owner of one.

Thanks for the suggestions but I've already been down that road with Menzerna compounds and all the foam pads.

This is not my first C-5 project and I've found that M-105 cuts faster and finishes nicer than Menzerna's heavy hitters. I've found that foam pads are a waste of time when cutting heavy defects from C-5 Corvette paint. This is my experience. I've found what works for me and I'll stick with it.

Perhaps you can't appreciate the depth of the paint defects by observing the photos in this thread, or you haven't worked on a really thrashed C-5 finish?

Collinite 845 is a nice product but it also is one that I passed on to my buddies for Ultima's Paint guard Plus, though it wasn't used on this project.

The wheels are a whole nother project on this car. They too are all scratched up and this project was all about the paint and the Ragg Topp cleaner and protectant application so not much time was spent on the wheels. This car will see regular visits to my shop so the wheels will be something I touch on down the road a bit.
