I owed my friend Chris a detail for a long time, and his car definitely needed it. Lots of fine swirls, baked on brake dust, etc etc

Process:

-Wash w/Meguiars Gold Class
-Cleaned wheels and tires with Poorboy's Spray & Rinse Wheel Cleaner, Poorboy's Bold 'N Bright on tires
-Spot clayed some areas with Wolfgang Elastic Poly Clay, but it didn't really need it since he clayed it recently
-Compounded some problem areas w/1Z Intensive Paste + 4" LC cutting pad via Porter Cable 7424
-Polished the entire car with Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 w/LC light cutting pad via Flex XC3401 VRG
-Polished again with Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 w/LC green polishing/finishing pad via Flex XC3401 VRG
(got in tight spaces with a 4" polishing pad and the PC 7424 as well)
-Diamondite Glass Restorer w/cutting pad, Diamondite Poli-Shield w/finishing pad...all with Porter Cable 7424

-Wolfgang Fuzion Carnauba Polymer Estate Wax by hand....gave the paint an AWESOME wet glow

I also let Chris take my car out and shoot some pics while I worked on his car.

You brought the Camaro back to better then new. Thanks for sharing al your step by step pictures, and your Corvette is quite a beauty too.

The SS looks great.i dunno y but for some odd reason camaro hoods are always a slightly different shade from the rest of the car.is it noticable in person or did the camera just over expose it?Your Z06 is pretty awesome looking as well.

It has to do with the materials involved....the hood never matches the bumper, because the bumper is urethane and the hood is fiberglass.

Looks Great!
I am sure you have used both the Souveran and the Fuzion. What do you prefer and do you see much of a difference?

Impressive work there Matt. Cool pics of your Vette too.

*Ow on the knees, lol.:D

so is that not a original SS??Both of my dads Trans ams have metal hoods and so does his buddy that has a WS6.Now my hood i bought off ebay is fiber glass and it actually matches pretty well with the rest of the car.

It is an original SS...my bad, I thought the SLP ram air hoods were fiberglass. Either way the same rules still apply if the hood is steel and the bumper is urethane.

Still looks badass though. So does your Z06

Nice job Matt. The PC with 4" pads sure comes in handy or are those 3.5" pads?

That is magnificent work! I don't know what favor he did for you to owe him a detail, but for those results, it probably involved a kidney.
:D

It's hard to explain...Fuzion seemed to make the paint glow like no other product I've used. My friend even called me after he got home to tell me how sweet the paint was glowing under a street light. It almost seemed to give more "life" to the paint, as if it was amplified in some way. VERY impressed with it so far. Being an Estate wax, I was hesitant to use it on his car since it sits outside and is daily driven, but it's held up great on Meghan's car, so I will keep you all posted with durability updates.
