well guys, this past weekend I detailed my uncles neglected 2001 Mustang Bullitt GT.

Some info about the car-

-100% stock bullitt
- Stock Factory Modified 4.6L V8 (factory modified with special upper intake and a few other differences from a standard 4.6L)
-#360 of 5582 Total Bullitts produced for the 2001 year
- 1 of the 3041 Dark Highland Green Cars Produced
- 1 of the 2873 Dark Highland Green Cars Produced WITH the Mach 460 sound system (only option available for the car)

Process-

-Wetsanded & Buffed Headlights
-Wash with Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo
-Griots Garage Paint prep
-Griots Garage paint cleaning clay
-Cleaned wheels with Griots Wheel Cleaner
-Applied Megs UC to the car with my Griots garage 6in RO
-Griots Pre wax clenser
-CG Blacklight applied to car using Griots 6in RO on a blue LC hybrid finish pad
-Megs Gold Class Caranuba Plus Wax
-CG Hybrid V7 detail spray/spray sealant on entire car+wheels
-Dressed trim, tires, and undercarriage
-Wiped jambs and door sils with Blackfire APC
-Cleaned windows with Invisible Glass
-Polished chrome
-Interior detail with various meguiars products

it was definitely alot of work, and the cars paint isnt 100% back due to megs UC being a mediocre product (still alot of acid rain etching on the hood, roof, and decklid), but the car does look 100x better. On to the pics!!

Just so we know, this is what the car USUALLY sits in

You can see one of his other mustangs (really needs help) & my focus in this reflection

It was alot of work, but now the car will be stored away (hopefully) and now its ready to win some awards at the shows (it actually got first place out of 2 other bullitts right before I detailed it, believe it or not)

All the hard work paid off when I got to drive it around afterwords....so much fun.

I love bullitts. It looks a million times better.

thanks. I am kind of upset that he has such a low number, special edtion car, and keeps it sitting out like that.

if anyone cares to see what shape his other mustangs are in....prepare to cry..

deplorable....I hope to one day convince him to sell me the blue one. Then I will make it a good looking car once again.

What a great turn around.
Surprised you didn't find any critters hiding in the engine compartment.

"...(it actually got first place out of 2 other bullitts right before I detailed it, believe it or not)"

So I'm thinking nobody takes care of their Bullitts. This should be a no contest winner now. You brought it back from the dead. Glad to hear it will be stored better that care is way too nice to let it rot in the grass. At least use a car cover!

WOW!!!!
What in the world is wrong with the guy that he would do that to a car that actually runs? Looks like he's got plenty of vehicles that need to be in the weeds besides limited number 'stangs.

Great work grasshopper, seems like just yesterday you were asking how to use that new buffer. :)

Thanks guys!

Im not sure what the heck was going on with the judges honestly. lol. I wasnt at the show, so Im not sure what the other cars looked like. Maybe my uncle placed 1st because of the mint interior. It already looked very good before I detailed it.

Well, All 3 mustangs run, its just the blue and the white ones need some help. The blue one was beat on by the previous owner (raced). But the Bullitt and the blue GT need to be put away for sure. I would love to have that Blue GT some day....last of the 5.0s in that body style, and its already built up with some nice performance mods. Anyways, yeah, there are plenty of other cars he has that are better suited for sitting around in the yard. lol

I guess I have learned a lot recently with car detailing. :dblthumb2:I remember when I thought I could get the same results from a crappy turtle wax "polisher" like I'm getting with the griots. LOL :p

It pains me to see those stangs sitting outside, neglected, like that. Thank you for showing them a little love!

What was the deal with Ford White paint of that era? Almost every vehicle with that color has the same peeling occuring at some level. My friend has a low mileage 2001 Mustang in white that is peeling at the left front fender. (and he keeps up on it)

I have absolutely no idea, but it sucks for sure. the white stripes on the blue car are aftermarket (the entire paint job is) so that probably explains the issue there. lots of clear coat peal on that one unfortunately :(.

lol ;) you know mustangs always catch my eye

The primer

Is that a true shinoda or a knock off?

Why does he let the bullitt sit like that?

The picture of the grass growing around it funny (but sad) and the turnaround is stunning!

That Bullitt needed you something awful. And yes Ford really blew it on the paint on the 94+ stangs. I'm sure one day I'll have to complete repaint mine but until then just keep it clean.

I'm sure you could find 10 mustang owners on this website who would love to take them off his hands.
