Picked a 2001 Trans Am WS6 for a new project. Car has sat for 7 years and will require more than detailing. I will keep the mechanics of the resurrection off the forum, or maybe you want to see that too? 60k miles and all original down to the tail pipe.

For the detailing portion: Car feels like sandpaper without using the baggie method. Outer surface is covered in mold, barnacles, and maybe dead mold that feels like sandpaper. Most of interior is dried out but nice. Cracked pieces will have to be replaced. I started cleaning the interior and treating surfaces for UV protection and moisturize before using.

Let's see if tapatalk works for me.

Its all baked on.

I hope the line of scrubbed residue removed shows up in the picture. The whole car is covered with the black specs. I used a foam bug remover sponge and a foam gun on the garden hose in the rain to remove the residue.

I didnt see much other choice to remove the stuck on layered residue, wash mit didnt work, particles were too aggressive and large for claying. I feared claying would grind the removed grit into the paint. I leveraged frequent cleaning of the sponge (every pass turn block over), rinsing the surface, and reapplication of soap from the foam gun to minimize damage to the paint. Car will definitely be polished.

That's all for today's work. Im getting a jump start on detailing while waiting on parts to rebuild the fuel system and preparing the car to start for the first time in 7 years.

That is one heck of a project... Good Luck.

It will be interesting to see how well you can revive the paint.

In for results. I'm a huge fan of that body style and the inner gearhead in me would love to see what you do on the mechanical side as well. Thanks for sharing!

Make that Baby Shine! Please keep us posted! IMO the WS6 Trans-Am was the best of the F-Bodies! KEEP ON ROCKING!

As a fellow 4th gen TA WS6 owner, thanks for saving it. Check facebook or ebay for the top dash pad. As for the actual dash, I'd suggest a vinyl and fabric paint, either Duplicolor or Sem. Seats look pretty good for the age.

The top dash pad is on the list! Typical door panel cracks are present, might do a mechanical fix and wrap in vinyl or leather.

The dash cleaned up nice!

Count me in for all of it!

As I'm sure you know, an air lid and exhaust really does make a big different.

Seats were so dry I put the leather conditioner on with a glove.

I wanted to see how the paint would respond to a light polish. Sonax NP 03-06 with a white pad on a Flex cordless free spin polisher.

Before and after shot.

Leather Honey is good for neglected seats. The conditioner is a bit sticky so I set it soak in for a couple days and then use a leather cleaner to buff off the excess.

Looking good. Definitely looking forward to all updates here. "Looks like fun" says only a fellow AG member

That poor car. Glad you're making such great progress. Keep up the good work!

Thanks. Heat index has been 106 the past few days. Im waiting for the temp to cool down before getting back to work on it.
