*** On another forum I am on Mothers is a sponsor. Their rep and I got together to hold a contest for a free detail. They supplied me with all of the product, gave the winner a TON of products including brushes, mitts, MF's, and the chemicals, and gave the runner up the assortment you will see in here. This is a copy and paste from that forum's post. So, it may seem strange reading it unless you are on that forum. The title of that thread was "what can your mothers do?" So that should explain the next line.***

Well my Mothers can make a car look damn good! Let me prove it.

AcesWild02 (Andy) was the lucky runner up in the Detail Forum Contest. Yesterday we completed his paint correction and detail. Jim @ Mothers was kind enough to provide all the items needed for the detail, and even gave some products to our runner up.

So what was all used in this detail? Funny you should ask. It is right below.

Mothers Carnuba Wash & Wax
Mothers Clay Bar System
Mothers Rubbing Compound 81132
Mothers Machine Glaze 82332
Mothers Foam Pad Polish 83432
Mothers California Gold Showtime Instant Detailer
Mothers California Gold Spray Wax
Mothers VLR
Mothers Glass Cleaner
Mothers Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner
Mothers Protectant
Mothers Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner
Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish
Mothers FX SynWax
Mothers Back 2 Black

Non-mothers products:
Zep Citrus Degreaser
IPA 70% diluted 3:1
PC7424XP
Orange, White, Black, Red, Blue LC CCS Pads.
Microfibers were a combination of Mothers and DI.

I would like to apologize in advance for not have any 50/50 Pictures or before pictures. When I got to Andy's house I just wanted to start right away. I was already late because some bad food the night before did work on my stomach. :lol

So I will just go in to the steps. We started of with giving the car a bath in the shampoo with the Zep added. After that we moved on to the clay bar. Andy and I split the task of claying the car. We each grabbed a bottle of Showtime and a chunk of clay and got to work.

Once all surface contaminants were removed (actually the car was pretty smooth to begin with) we moved on to compounding. The car suffered from pretty bad swirling and rain spots. I really wish I would have got a 50/50 shot of this car as it would have been amazing.

While I moved on to compounding, Andy started on the interior detail. It was really nice having a someone to help! While he used the Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner on the tough stains, and used my Bissel to pull out the product, I worked an orange pad on my PC with the Rubbing Compound. After two section passes the finish looked great. I was pleasantly surprised with the product. It had good cutting ability, but it did dust up. It was not as bad as M105 though. Removing it was a toss up, at times it was very easy to remove. At other times it required a little more elbow grease.

The following shots are after only compound and an IPA wipedown.

Here are the shots of the interior once Andy was done.

He used VLR and Protectant on all the surfaces. I like the VLR as a one step leather vinyl cleaner. It leaves a nice satiny finish, which I love. Plus when the car was finished it smelled great without using any spray scents.

Andy got started on quick detailing the wheels and applying a coat of wax and then buffing out with spray wax.

He commented on how his wheels had never looked so good.

Next I moved on to the Machine glaze on a white pad. This product went on easy, and left a great finish. It, like the compound, came off easy and hard. In the stubborn spots I spritzed it with Showtime, and it came right off.

I got sick of the tape not sticking. Andy had previously used Mothers Back 2 Black on the car. The tape would NOT stick to it, even after the bath. You will notice in some pictures, tape and in others no tape. I ended up removing it on some panels as I got sick of dealing with it.

After that I moved to a black pad and the foam pad polish. This went on easy and came of just as easy. It provided that pop and clarity that I was looking for.

With all that finished we used the FX SynWax as the LSP and gave the car a final wipedown of Spray Wax.

I was really happy with how the car turned out. I think Andy was as well.

Very nice work. You'll be seeing a few more paint corrections posted by me using the Mothers Professional Line. Thanks for posting. Nice writeup too.:props:

Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind words. I am going to use the foam pad polish on my car tomorrow just as a quick step before I try out some new stuff. I really like the pro line.

Very nicely done and the end result is fantastic. Your paint has great gloss and looks extremely deep, it says a lot for Mothers products. Again, nice work.

As always excellent work and a nice, detailed write up.
Really nice to see a review featuring the Mothers professional line.

Just goes to show...great results usually come with great effort..but give the greatest rewards and gratitude. Awesome job..don't think I have seen a nicer 2002!

Thank you very much everyone. I really enjoyed doing this car. Having someone help, and some eager to learn was a nice addition and made doing something I love to do that much more enjoyable.

I have a lot of Mothers products. Some I have found that I really like. For instance, the new Reflections Tire Care is very nice. I used it for the first time today instead of my Opti-Bond. I really like the rich dark satin finish it gave the tires. As I try more, I will post up more of my feelings on them.
