A new customer contacted me from a referral and wanted her Porsche cleaned up. The car is a daily driver and she commutes 50 miles round trip daily. I picked the car up at night so I really couldnt see how dirty it was till I inspected it in the morning. The customer just wanted a "wash and wax". I explained the polishing process...1 step, 2 step, etc. The customer was in a hurry to leave town and told me to just clean it up. Even though she would have been happy with a wash and wax I always give my Porsche customers a little extra. Since I had the car all day I settled on a 2 step process but not to show car standards.

Here is my process and products used:

1. Pre-soak with P21s TAW and agitated around emblems and creases.
2. Washed with DP Extreme Foam via the Gilmour Foam gun and two bucket method.
3. Dried with Cobra Guzzlers. Normally I would have blown the car dry but I wasnt worried about inducing swirls since correction was next.
4. Taped off with 3M masking tape.
5. Clayed with Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay with ONR as clay lube.
6. I settled on a combo of Megs 205 on the LC orange via the Flex on the large panels and the PC on the smaller areas. The 205 on orange gave me better results than 105 on white and finished nearly LSP ready.
7. After 205, I hit it with Wolfgang FG on the white LC pad.
8. I sealed the paint with WGDGPS
9. After the sealant cured overnight I applied Sig II to subdue the sealant a bit and add that deeper glow.
10. The tires and wheels were cleaned with Megs APC.
11. Tires treated with DP Tire Gel....becoming my fav topper for tires.
12. Trim pieces and the various gaskets were treated with 303 Aero.
13. Interior was thoroughly vaccummed. LOTS OF DOG HAIR! My metro vac and shop vac worked overtime to get that hair out. I pulled the backseats out and thought I had found Jimmy Hoffa in there.
14. The customer requested that I use Lexol on the leather interior. Not my fav but I do as I am told.

All in all I was happy with the results. I would have preferred more correction but I achieved 85% and the customer didnt even expect that. The front clip was riddled with stone chips so I will apply some Dr Color Chip in the coming weeks. The pictures are not the best as I had an Acura in waiting and wanted to get this thing back in the customers garage.

Swirlies compliments of the local Swirl-o-Matic.

Porsche looks Great! She had to be very pleased so see that you did extra work to remove those swirls. Hope you landed a maintenance program, those auto car washes are detailers best friend. :)

The customer does want me to maintain it weekly. I dont normally do the routine wash route but she lives close by and I have no prob doing an ONR for her. It is a tad selfish since she is a fellow P-Car owner. But, when you buy a Porsche you are not just buying a brand, you are buying the fellowship as well.

Nice save... :xyxthumbs:

What a nice guy... plus a regular source of income for more detailing supplies, PLUS future referrals.

Thanks guys! The extra coin will certainly come in handy Mike. I plan on upping my game a bit in terms of products. I am headed to DetailFest for the first time this year and plan on grilling all the manufacturers as I feel I am missing something...a step, a polish, a process...something.

That finish looks stellar. You did a great job. Its always a nice feeling to get a referral job.

Interiors are never fun when you have a ton of dog hair.

Looks great. Cant agree more about the fellowship between Pcar owners. i dont get that with my other cars.

funny story-
My buddy was driving my car though a mountain pass one day. While enjoying the curves we passed two oncoming Porsches. After the 2nd one flashed his hi-beams my buddy replied. Why is it that only other porcshe drivers are flashing me to slow down?.

Dog hair is a nightmare, especially on a black interior. I love my dogs more than anything but there is no way I am letting them ride in my Porsche's. They are relegated to the Jeep and that is only for trips to the vee eee tee..I have to spell it out since they know what that word means and where they are going. Usually there is a vomit situation at some point in the travel. Good times!

That is funny! There is a campaign by the National PCA to keep alive the "Porsche wave". When I am driving the 944 I never get flashed back by the 911 guys. There is still that front engine/rear engine deal. In my Panamera nobody flashes me since they dont know what the hell it is half the time being that it is so damned ugly. But, at the end of the day we call ourselves purists and can have a martini together and get along just fine.

:hijacked:

A i LOVE that Panamera. Porsche of Annapolis had a debut of the car when they took there first shipment so everyone could experience it hands on. So much bigger then I thought it would be. loads of electronics which was surprising and I still dont know how Porsche made a car that big and heavy that feels so light and nimble. It feels like it belongs on the track.

As for frindships formed. I've met about a dozen guys with various 9s that I now call friends. One guy followed me home so we could exchange information (he lived in my neighborhood) I met a guy at petsmart while in my BMW and told him about my car. Hes a PCA instructor. We talk and talk then he hands me the keys to his (well modded 9) and says, "I want you to take her for a spin". Im the MAN

Hilarious!! That had me laughing.

Nice work on the car as well.

I only have three pics on my iPad. These are afters. Not sure why the thread is not showing the original pics.
