2003 Corvette

One of my weekly wash customers who owns a used car dealership just got this Vette last week and wanted me to come detail it last Friday, but I told him to please let me wait until I got my FLEX. I also got some Menz SIP to give me the one to punch of SIP and 106. From the looks of it I could tell the car had visited the local tunnel wash numerous times.

I’m not the best photographer, and the befores don’t do this car’s condition justice. It had numerous swirls, water spots, and other scratches.

I choose SIP and LC green pad via the FLEX. I spread the polish on speed 2 or 3, then work it on 5 and 6. I follow up w/ 106 and LC white pad via the FLEX. I really love this machine. It makes the poor PC seem like a little toy. My PC is now dedicated to applying glazes and LSP’s.

Half and Half shots:

After polishing I decided to go w/ WMF to add some wetness and depth. I applied it w/ my lil PC w/ a white EDGE pad. I locked in everything w/ Collinite 845. The owner was ecstatic, I however wished I could of done a little more correcting, but the paint was in severe shape and I’m not a rotary or wet sand detailer yet.

Overall I would rate the FLEX a 9 out of 10. It does take a little time to get use to working w/ it but it does a great job. The only thing that concerns me is how hot the metal housing gets after using it on speed 5 or 6. I currently have the red 6” backing plate, and look forward to getting the new 5.5” bp. If you’re serious about detailing the FLEX is a tool you need. I hope to use it more this week w/ some different AIO’s to see how it performs.

that thing is liquid!! nice job there Bradley! Where did you get that Flex from? They are all sold out from what I can find on the net. Nice bucket in the first pic, I need to pickup one of those too!!

Thanks! Flex was purchased from Detailed Image. I would of liked to waited for AG, but I really needed it to the Vette and two more jobs this week. Buckets will be going on sell next month.

I should hope to shout that the owner should be happy. The Vette looks very nice. The half and half shots tell the tale.

I would be concerned about heat build up with any electrical unit that I use. This is something to keep an eye on. I hope you keep us informed as to how this effects the Flex.

Vette came out gorgeous, you could dive into the paint. Just placed my order in at AG for the Flex. I'll have to wait untill some time in Jan. but that OK with me. It's just for my personal use. Something to look foward to.

need to get some PG compound to add to your collection... I got some and that stuff is the shiznit.... 2 steps above the SIP. And I bet it would of aided in your correction

I'm waiting on a 8 ounce sample from a friend. I was hoping to have it for the Vette, but had to use what was available. What pad do you use w/ PG?

Great work man!!! Like mentioned above-the half/half shots show how bad the car looked. Wish I could have found a real detailer like you to do my camaro when I first got it!! It looked as bad as that vette-even worse scratches in some spots. The "detail" guy that did mine made it look even worse-he left white wax in all the scratches!!! I was like wtf??? hahaha

I am pretty new to detailing-could you please tell me the full name of what you used on the vette? I would really appreciate it -(sorry still learning) thanks!!!

Menzema and collonite I understood

The PC doesn't even come close to the Flex. It breaks down the polish a lot quicker, and yes it saves time. I've got a HF rotary that I've used a few times on scrap panels, but not enough to put it on clients' cars. I'm looking to get 6' bp for the rotary and do some more practicing. The FLEX is a most IMO for a detailer.

Excellent results. You probably had the worse case possible to work with there.......a damaged, black, Vette!

You sure did show what the FLEX can do.
Tell them how long it took and you just started with it.

shadybreal,

Great job. I too like WMF and often top it with a paste carnauba, but the Collinite looks great....wet and rich.

Question: you mention getting a 5.5" BP for the Flex...where can you order the 5.5" BP?

If Flex can supply that and a 3.5" for small spots...all bases will be covered.

Shady nice job on that vette. I too just got my Flex.

Waxmax from conversation with the master distributor of Flex this week they only had very few (like maybe 3 left now) 5.5" backplates left. They were a temporary fix for the red velcro ones. He said they have a new one that is coming and is supposed to have a more flexible material. Smaller than 6" but bigger than 5.5".

Russecu,

Thanks for the info. You mention the 5.5" were a"temporary fix" for the 6"?? Can you explain. Is it just the more flexible material?

I am not sure why they used the 5.5". I think the main difference was the glue holding the velcro on the backing plate. People were having some problem with the velcro coming off the backing plate which was the red velcro. The one with the flexible material is awaiting arrival to US. Not too sure on how flexible or specifics on it. Again this is what I was told. We shall see. I do have the 5.5" ordered and will more than likely try to get the new backing plate when I arrives.
