2003 Tiburon

Nica, with your garage being kind of a sky blue all you need to do is paint some buffing white cloulds on the ceiling and keep up great work and you can get some nice sky reflection shots right in your garage.

Nica it's nice to see some of your work... and all I gotta say is "WOW" fantastic turn around, im sure canada doesn't have another detailer like you around. keep up the awesome work... and love all the pics, more the marrier

Nice turn around Carlos. You are becoming a detail guru.:applause:

Nica, nice write-up man. I really enjoyed reading it! Nice turnaround on this car!! Some people really treat their car really bad! That’s one heck of a job!

I really like the case you did for the rotary! Looks comfy! lol

Also, what’s beside that Megs wool pad? The light orange wool pad?

What's your thoughts on the red clay? Where di you buy it?

I highly suggest Black Again instead of Back to Black. Night and day difference and last way longer too. I can send you a sample if you want ;-)

I just ordered my rotary, my Mez and a Megs Wool pad and I have a scrap car to test it on. I can’t wait to try that combo!

Thanks for sharing

Carlos..absolutely fabulous job!! I remember not that long ago you were just asking about wetsandind and wool pads..now look at you!! Your customer must have wet his pants when he saw the end result. What/how do you charge for a job like that and (sorry if I missed it) but how long did it take?

Great Job. 5 more exams until i come to visit LOL. As for cabinets...I have been looking at the Gladiator set for quite sometime, but they keep on appearing and dissapearing from Costco.

fusion orange - you can say that again, as I was polishing it I noticed a few odd things about the vehicle and actually confirmed it. The left side looked way different compared tot he right side...so I got my paint gauge out and did some probing....yup the entire right side was re-painted. Looks like the vehicle was in an accident, customer didn't have to tell me about it either...oh and that explained the stress lines on the bumper...man this vehicle was a fun vehicle to do.

AL417 - Oh yea I really enjoy the garage, in fact did you see the little picnic table inside the garage? Well the wife was calling me for dinner and I suggested we it in the garage and we did...now she finally understood why I want a TV in the garage :D...looks like I'm getting my TV...saaawwweeeetttt! oh and satelite of course ;) Thank you for the compliment Al417, means alot..I've seen your work and I'm just trying to keep up with everyone here.

Gary Sword - Good one Gary, with the new lights that I call man maid lights I'm sure I could pull it off...sun shine all year round in my garage :D

Dust2Glory - Thanks bro, like I said I'm just trying to keep up with the pro's here. There is one detailer that I know off, here in town. He's got a great reputation here in town and I met up with him, very nice person and provided me with some nice tips...very busy guy too...I think he's the only mobile detailer in town..I think. Glad you enjoyed the pictures, I took lots to see the transformation...I love pictures :D

Rsurfer - thanks buddy, but a guru gosh not quite my friend...thank you for the compliment though. I just love challenging my self. Glad you liked it buddy.

devst8 - Yea it's a shame the way some vehicles are, the owner if this vehicle has the right attitude but like all of us at one point, we thought we were detailing but in fact maybe making it worse. The owner drilled me as to what to use for inside and out side...I told him most of my stuff came from the US/Europe but I suggested some Meg's and Mothers products that could be picked up localy...heck I picked up Meg's #40 localy told him to go pick som up if he really wanted to...but for polishing/compounding/wet sanding that was over his head and said he would just keep coming back to me :D I was okay with that too. I did explain to him how to dry a vehicle properly...he admit it he takes the vehicle through car washes...I told him to stop doing that. Just takes a little edumacation ;). The case for the Metabo..hehe..I purhcased the case at Canadian Tire and I had some foam kicking around and I cut it and made a queen size bed out of it for my baby (Metabo) another member did the same here. The other two wool pads, I picked up localy actually all of them I picked up from Carlson Body Shop, that goes for the red clay too. That's where I go all the time, really nice guys there they have a bunch of stuff and I love going in there once a week and chatting it up with a guy name Bill, very nice guy and I walk in with one idea and he gives me a bunch more idea...oh you should see the stuff I've picked up...I'll post pics soon. The red clay is wicked, it's strong. It says medium grade but there is nothing medium about it, I tried the Ricardo clay on it just to see and it did okay but I wanted to make sure nothing was going to be on the paint after I clayed it...these two clays (Ricardo and Red Clay magic) are goign to be my go to clay, I recommend the red clay you won't be disapointed. Thanks for the tip about Back Again I went today to pick it up..I must have comfused the products becuase I thought Black to Black was the one that made it look black again. This Black to Black just makes it look shiny. I kept looking at it and it just didn't look right thanks for the tip buddy. Congrats on the rotay, post some pics when you receive it. Rotary is fun just have to respect it and give it the attention it requires same goes for the wool pads. Glad you enjoyed my friend.

richy - Thanks bro, means a lot coming from you. There are lots of memeber here I respect very much and you are one of them buddy. Yea your right I look back and I remember my self saying "I'll never use a rotary" hahaha funny how time changes things. Customer was drooling when he saw the car...his exact words "..the car looks like new.." that was a big comliment to me...felt really good when he said that :D...how do I charge..well I just inspect the paint after the inspection I ask the customer what he would like done. I point out trouble spots to the customer and we go from there...the price...well I just estimate how long it will take me and go from there...I don't do per hr rate I just pick a number and stick with it. How long did this one take me? mmm...lets see..I started Friday from 6PM to 11PM then continued on Saturday from 1PM to about 10PM straight (this is where the Metabo's features come in handy shape/weight)...well had to eat :D. Glad you enjoyed it my friend and thank you for the kind words.

sneek - Really 5 more...well just remember if you bust your but the reward is there after. Looking forward to the visit buddy. Yea I know the cabinets you are talking about I've been watching out for them but haven't sen them come back to Costo...thanks for the compliments it would be my pleasure to have your car in my garage. Good luck on the exams buddy, study your hard and enjoy the rewards after...trust me well worth it...sorry don't mean to sound like a perent and I'm sure you know this already.

Nica,
A truly bomb job! Gosh you have gotten so skilled at this! Wow!! What did the owner say? (Sorry if I missed that part, but i did not think so.....) You are getting way too good!!

Im suprised you went from wool and a compound to a finishing pad and a finishing polish, that ussually does not work.

ltoman - the owner was very pleased with the results, the only thing was that he kept touching the paint and every time he touched it I just looked the other way :(. The owner was blown away with the results. Me skilled or good...I don't know I just like to challenge my self that's all, so far I'm winning...swirls NIL baby :D

coupe - well having used Menzerna before I expected nothing but the best from it. So after the wool and Menzerna compund, it totally flattened out the paint removing majority of the swirls and only left very minor swirls. The key was the next step, I used 106FF which is a very versatile product and with the Menzerna Finishing pad it removed what ever swirls were left and left the paint dripping wet. I was going to go over it with Final Polish II but it really wasent needed...there were some spots that did require two passes of 106FF but one or two spots..the hood finished incredable...even I had to stand back and admire it. I'm not a pro at this so don't go thinking that I know it all because I dont...yet ;) but I found this combo to be a nice combo...but who knows maybe next vehicle I try this combo on it may be to hard or not harsh enough. Oh and the only reason I went with wool pad is becuase of the color and because of the shape the vehicle was in, but I'm very glad I did because I found out very interesting things about wool pads.

Awesome work, Carlos!! You're kickin' butt with that Metabo! Garage looks great too! Great idea with all those lights. Looks like there may some space left for that hydraulic lift! LOL

Thank you alban61 it's like the Metabo and I were made for each other :D
Garage is coming and the lift might be coming too...I just wished I had more room that's all...the lift will fit but it may eat up the limited room I have...who knows maybe I'll purchase. Thanks for the compliment.

Nica, That is a different car! You getting up there with master Toto! Fantastic work my friend. I do appreciate the write up and pics.

Thanks sparkie...but I got a long way to go to get to master Toto's level and other pro detailers here, really appresiate the compliment bro and I love pictures it really shows the work/effort that goes in to the detail. Glad you enjoyed it buddy.

Lauren - it's this video, I did a review on it. Nice DVD, learned lots from it. As for the clay, I picked it up localy here man I was shocked to see it here so I picked up a few. I never used the blue but this stuff is strong, it caused some marring on the paint too but no biggie as I was going to do some serious work anyway.

one sec....okay here it is http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/6977-buffing-confidence-review.html

Gary - yea I may have over done it with the pictures but since I'm always the one asking for pictures it's only fair that I post lots of pictures :D Thanks for the compliments buddy.

Aha!! Thank you, Nica!!!:)

Carlos,
Does your wife ever see you anymore? Or Isabel?
Hee hee hee
You got skills. Boy you have come far from asking ME questions! LOL

Z06-Goose - Thank you for the compliment.

ltoman - I get my princess and my wife to help me out when I'm detailing. My wife helps me remove the wax while I apply the wax and my little princess is sometimes taking pictures or sometimes drying the rims. Yup, the entire family is a detailing family ;D. The best thing is that my family enjoys helping me and like to see the turn around. It's great.

AUdakota - Wet sanding is wicked and lots of fun, just need to check your work all the time.

Sevenrd - Thank you buddy, means alot.
