2003 Tiburon

Nica I have a Tiburon and was wondering about the wet sanding. Was the clear coat thick, thin, hard or soft? Also were you able to improve any on the orange peel Hyundai's have?
Here's a pic of my beast..

I wish I had a garage so that I could tape up my car. I can't do that and feel comfortable because I feel self-conscious enough with all the 'oh there goes the car geek again waxing his car!" type looks i get.:(

Nice collection Nica. You rock.

First of all nice Tiburon. The clear coat on this one was fine but this particular vehicle was in an accident the passenger side was completey redone and there was lots of clearcoat on that side...the driver side read normal readings when I checked it with my gauge...I'll have to double check the readings...I think I recorded them. The clearcoat was mild not hard but not soft..just mild. When I wet sanded I would give it about two or three passes and wipe and chech then continued wet sanding as required. The area that I did wet sand I did manage to remove the orange peel, it was a small area and hard to tell but if you had the vehicle infront of you and get close to the spot you could tell the difference. Removing orange peel is hard and long process...a paint gauge is a must to make sure you have enough clear coat...I used 2000 grit sand paper...removing orange peel I would use 3000 grit. It's actually easy to remove the orange peel it just takes time that's all. Hope this helps.

Cheetah - Don't worry about the other people, they are just jelous becuase your car looks better then there's ;). But yes I'm quite fortunet to have a garage, it really comes in handy. Thank you for the compliment.
