This fellow lives up the street and has been on the fence about getting his car done for a few years. This year he gave it the green light. It is a garage kept, weekend only, never sees rain kinda car. Overall the shape was pretty nice, but it did need correction. Here it is as it arrived:

(Please excuse the editing error on the 1st photo)

Swirls to get rid of:

Unfortunately, it got caught in the rain going to the dealership last time:

The wheels (especially the barrels) needed some work:

Also, there were several chips in the hood that needed repair:

There were also some pretty serious gouges and scrapes along the bottom of the passenger side:

For the wheels, there was a multi-step process needed on them, namely:

-barrels cleaned with Tarminator and AutoGlym wheel brush (the long, narrow one)
-barrels and faces then cleaned with Megs WB
-barrels and faces then neutralized with Zep Citrus
-tires cleaned with Zep 505
-wells cleaned with LATA

The car was then washed with DG 901 followed by a 2nd wash with IronX paste and a grout sponge. It was brought inside wet and clayed with my new speedy surface clay mf and then dried.

For correction, I used my Flex 3401 + TB black wool + M105. That was followed by Rupes 21 with B/S white pad + M205. Squeaky Clean was then done by hand to ensure true correction and a clean surface ready to coat.
The exhaust tips were polished by hand via mf + M205 and subsequently coated.
Here's the hood after being polished:

The following day it was given a fast wipe down with ONR to remove any overnight dust. The wheels, paint, head & tail lights and all glass were coated with Americoat. The windshield was coated with DP glass coating (2 coats). The convertible top was treated to DG 341 to add repellency to the top. Unfortunately it was trying to rain when I was about to deliver it. You'll see rain drops in the pics. I was disappointed not to have some strong sun to show this baby off!!

Inside Shots:

Now, THAT'S better!

Remember the passenger side?

Thanks for looking!!

Very beautiful and professionally detailed.

I have a guy who live up on the road just like you've said, and when my time come, I wish I can do to his car exactly what you've done to this one.

That's a way to get a customer for life.

Congratulations on that one, and thanks for sharing.

It kills me that so many owners of expensive cars never clean the barrels of their wheels. And they are so particular about who touches the car. But, better than if they don't care for it at all I guess.

Nicely done richy!

This doesn't even look like the same car and now looks better then new....

Beautiful work Richy! :props:

Stunning
Awsome, what's the word I'm looking for

Oh Yeh! Flawless!

Great job as always Richy, keep them coming.

Great work aas usual Richy, but for a car with such limited road time it sure wasn't in that great of shape!

Excellent work! Nothing more labor intensive and rewarding than working out black paint! Is the application of Americoat similar to Opticoat or Cquartz?

Thanks very much! Happy customers lead to referrals. I'm looking forward to seeing your write up.

Thanks John! To be fair, I don't think most owners even know how or what tools to use to clean in there. That's where joining a forum will help them.

Thanks very much Bobby! Man, I'd love to do a yellow one like yours one day!!

Tim, that's too funny!! I'm not above receiving a shameless plug, no sir I'm not!! LOL...and thanks!!

Overall awesome job, esp on the tips and barrels.
Thanks. I don't even think the owner got what I was saying when I was telling him the work that would go into gettting them back looking nice.

Thank you! I'm going to be sending him some info on ONR, etc to help keep it in better shape.

Excellent job. How do you like the americoat?
Honestly? I'm really liking it so far. I've played with different curing times, etc to try to fine tune my method with it. In this case, I actually employed a method of flash curing with compressed air like I do when applying Opti Guard and it worked very well. I knew black would be the ultimate test for it and it passed with flying colours! The true test will be how long it lasts. Time will ultimately tell. Every indication is that it will be stellar but again, we'll have to wait and see.

Excellent work! Nothing more labor intensive and rewarding than working out black paint! Is the application of Americoat similar to Opticoat or Cquartz?
Amen to that brother! It is similar to CQF (old version). Medium curing time. I have yet to try CQUK but I think that will be its main competiitor in terms of price and durability and looks.

Marvelous work you added even more shine in that corvette
Thanks for the kind words!!
